Hotel Steyne, located in Manly on Sydney's picturesque northern beaches, has recently left a customer dumbfounded by charging $40.90 for just three schooners of beer.

The patron had ordered two schooners of Stone and Wood and one schooner of 4 Pines to enjoy during their night out. Little did they know, their hard-earned money would disappear faster than a cold beer on a hot summer's day, with Stone and Wood setting them back an eye-watering $14.20 per schooner.
Understandably perturbed by the excessive charge, the customer took to the social media platform Reddit to share an image of their receipt, sparking a torrent of outraged comments from fellow baffled beer lovers.
One disgruntled commenter pointed out that: 'France rioted for raising the age of the pension. Surely this is the breaking point for Aussies, right?'
Others confessed that inflated prices have caused them to avoid pubs altogether, with one suggesting they'd decided long ago it was way cheaper to have some mates over and ‘Put on a carton, watch the game.'
However, some social media users were slightly more understanding, noting that the beachfront location and higher living costs in Manly may contribute to the higher-than-average drink prices.

This 3.7 per cent increase, which affects all beer sales (whether by the bottle, carton, or draught), has made Australia the fourth most expensive country in the world for beer tax, lagging only behind Finland, Norway, and Japan.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers' spokesperson explained, 'This is the usual, automatic indexation change that happens twice a year under governments of both persuasions… We listen respectfully to ideas put to us, but these have to be weighed against other priorities and fiscal challenges, with a budget that's heaving with a trillion dollars of debt.'
