Who remembers the good old Aussie beach shacks? Those made of Hardiplank and cement sheeting, with no electricity. You'd wake up to the sound of waves crashing and the smell of salty air. It wasn’t fancy, but it was the perfect escape. Do you remember those simple days spent there? Share your memories here!

I can go back even further. My GGgrandfather, a convict, was granted land on Goat Island on the Hawkesbury River. There were actually 3 shacks on the island made from corrugated iron with toilet made of 4 poles covered with hessian, wooden seat with hole and huge hole in the ground. Sadly, when I was about 12 some men wanted to buy the island and when my father refused to sell, the mongrels burned our house down. We knew who did it but the authorities didn't want to know. It's still my favourite place to go in my head.
