A thrifty mum's social media post has sent bargain hunters into a frenzy after she revealed that she scored a big-ticket $100 cookware set at a marked-down price of $30 at an unlikely store.

Sharing her budget find on the Markdown Addicts Australia Facebook group, the mum said that she stumbled upon the discounted offering at the Spotlight website, prompting her to purchase the Equip five-piece marble cookware set, which includes one casserole pot, two saucepans, and two fry pans.

It should be noted that Spotlight is known for its textile and crafts products — including beddings, sheet sets, sewing materials, and fabrics — so the discounted find is very unusual for most shoppers.

One woman wrote: "My closest spotlight is 45 minutes away. As soon as I saw the post, I jumped in the car and went and brought myself a set. From $100 down to $30 - one happy Mumma."

"Thanks for this, I just nabbed myself a set, and even with postage I managed to get it for $27.99 using my birthday voucher too!" another added.

A third chimed in: "Thank you for posting this. I rang my local store but they had run out, just ordered online, woo-hoo!"

About 15 years ago I bought a set of saucepans from Spotlight, I can't remember what I paid but they weren't expensive at a lot less than $100. They are perhaps the best saucepans I have ever owned, way better than ones costing 2 and 3 times as much. In fact I still have them and use them all the time. they are a little battle scarred on the outside but the non stick is still intact and working well. I love them.

I don't like buying sets of of cookware as I find myself using particular sizes frequently so prefer to have 2 or 3 of that size and maybe only one of another so buy individually and in the long run find it cheaper or I would end up with to many large pots these days with only two of us to cook for.

Hey Members! We have had a few people email us about this one... I'm not sure what's happened because on Thursday when we wrote this article they were in fact on sale for only $30 (We always double check the prices on the site before we publish, because errors like this have happened in the past!) I have emailed Spotlight and will hopefully receive an answer as to why the prices were different on Thursday and Friday. Very strange, as this was also run https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/...king-sets-Spotlight-whopping-70-cent-off.html saying that it was available for $30?

I have read stories about retailers having items on their site for cheap, then when a sale comes around i.e. 'Easter Sale' they actually increase the price of the item far more than what it was originally... I wonder if that's what has happened here?
