Who remembers clutching their little bank book on a trip to the local branch? You'd line up, hand it over at the counter, and watch the teller stamp each transaction—a snapshot of simpler times. Still got yours? Share your memories here.

I think the bank book was a great visual record of your savings prior to the digital age. It was also the time of many bank tellers and lots more branches everywhere. Nowadays there are just two tellers at the local NAB branch and customers are intercepted to see why they are there and can their transactions be done by themselves with a machine. Not as friendly as the old days!

I am 87 years old and blind . I still have my bankbook with Westpac bank . They do not give me DEBIT card because I cannot see to get money out of automatic teller and plus I lose my card . They are very good to me I take my accounts in to Bank they put money in envelope and I walk out their door straight in to post office and pay them. I have been warned never to do any online banking on my computer ever . No one takes any money out of my account without mine and Westpac say so. Hope I am not alive when they do away with cash
