Australian singer shares heart-wrenching loss: 'I am absolutely devastated'

In a world where celebrities often seem larger than life, moments like these remind us that they face the same heartaches and trials we all do.

A singer who had serenaded millions with his hits shared a deeply personal update with his fans.

Australian singer Darren Hayes took to social media to mourn the loss of his mother, Judy.

Months ago, Hayes dedicated his new memoir, Unlovable, to his mum, who had been his guiding light throughout his life.

The grief-stricken singer wrote a tribute to his late mum, which resonated with fans and colleagues who have experienced the same pain.

'I am heartbroken to announce that my beautiful, extraordinary, magnificent, wondrous Mother, Judy, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on 17 January 2025, in Brisbane,' Hayes wrote.

'I am absolutely devastated, as are her siblings, her grandchildren, my sister, our close family and all of her wonderful friends and anyone who knew her.'

'She was the kindest person any of us knew and everything I know about love, I learned from her.'

The 52-year-old Hayes has experienced the heights of international stardom, but his mother's influence remained a constant, grounding force in his life.

'We always had an invisible string, a magical connection that was unbreakable no matter where I was in the world,' he reflected.

The metaphor of a balloon tied to a string captured the essence of their bond—a bond that, even in her passing, Hayes believes remains unbroken.

'The string has been cut, and now my Mother has ascended to the heavens where she is forever young, beautiful and can finally breathe and is pain-free,' he mused.

'My heart is broken, but I'm so grateful she is finally at peace.'

Hayes' followers and fans have witnessed the love and admiration he held for his mother over the years.

On her 79th birthday, he publicly celebrated her and shared his gratitude for the lessons she imparted.

His memoir dedication was yet another testament to her lasting impact on his life.
