Australia Post reveals massive update for deliveries nationwide! Here's what we know so far

With the advent of online shopping and services, couriers have been working hard to deliver parcels and packages to Aussies nationwide.

If you're someone who loves the convenience of having items delivered to your doorstep, a major update is coming soon on Australia Post's delivery services.


Starting Monday, 19 May, Australia Post will roll out a new feature in the MyPost app.

The feature should allow customers to view photos of attempted deliveries.

If a postie is unable to deliver a parcel for any reason, couriers now have to take a photo of the recipient's front door to confirm the delivery attempt.

This update should give customers peace of mind and greater transparency.

To access this new feature, shoppers need to have their parcel matched to their MyPost account through their phone number or email address.

Recipients should see the photo of the delivery attempt in their app.

Despite this change, the rest of the delivery process remains unchanged.

Posties and drivers are still required to knock three times when they attempt to deliver a parcel, along with all the usual safeguards to ensure timely delivery.


Understandably, some Aussies shared their concerns about privacy when it comes to photos being taken.

In response to these concerns, Australia Post has put strict guidelines in place to protect people's privacy.

Only the outside of the front door or the location where the parcel is will be photographed.

No identifying text, people, vehicles, or the inside of the property will be included in the photo.

Any of the customer's personal circumstances visible from the front door must not be captured.

Lastly, photos will be available in the app for 90 days, then archived and deleted after three years.


For many Australians, especially seniors, missed parcels could be a real headache.

Sometimes, it's hard to know if a delivery was genuinely attempted or if a 'Sorry We Missed You' card was left hastily.

With this new feature, customers should have photographic evidence of the delivery attempt, which can prevent possible disputes in the long run.

It's also a great way to keep track of deliveries, especially when the customer is away from home.

For Australia Post customers who want to opt out of the photos, Australia Post's customer service line is open.

About time this has happened.

My Australia post delivery guys and postie are amazing. My postie will actually leave a parcel that needs a signature in a safe place he will also let me sign for a family member but he has been our postie for years.

The problem I have is with Courier's Please, I have seen them pull up in front get out of the van put a card in my letter box and leave without attempting to even step onto my property.

Once I ran out the front door after seeing this to find him stopped only a few doors down placing a card in their letter box.

I confronted him and asked why he was leaving cards and not delivering when people were home and no attempt to deliver . He could speak English. I took a photo of him carding my neighbour and his number plate. I reported this by both phone and email with photo's and was told someone would get back to me but never did.

What do they get by not delivering 🤔 do they get paid extra for delivering a second time ? Wouldn't the company be suspicious with so many carded deliveries
 
It still doesn't address the problem. The parcel goes back if they believe the designated place to leave it isn't okay. The 'customer is always right' should be their ethos, not 'OK I don't like this spot so I'm taking it back.' When a customer says a place, they ought to blasted well PUT IT THERE. Otherwise they fail the customer.
 
I've always had this service, it's not new. I don't know if our delivery couple just go 'above and beyond' but the app has a see where we left it feature and if it required a signature I know an honest attempt was made. A cheap doorbell camera can cover from the customer's side. I find treating the delivery folk like human beings and not just a service, goes a long way.
 
That only applies to honest delivery people - the other side never even get out of their vans so no photos from them. Unless they have a pic of the front door from previous times.....I am refusing to shop online with any company that uses AusPost for delivery. I am sick of having to get to the local post office and pick up my 'delivery to door' goods. Guess they are delivered to a door - just not my own.
 
It is something I never have to worry about as I collect all mail from the post office. We only have post office boxes available where I live. At least I can be sure none of my parcels can be stolen. I do think it's a great idea though
 
We have excellent delivery people. The Australia Post crew are awesome and now TEMU. Are using a courier service and they are really good too. I saw the bit about the attempted delivery photo the other day. It might help people who have problems with getting their parcels left at their addresses but like I said we have no problems. We have a new postie and she leaves small parcels that don’t fit in the mail box in our electric box and takes the time to write a card telling us where to find it.
 
The parcel my daughter sent from WA, I'm in Vic, for Mum's Day was reported as "not home" which I was on their first try, next was delivered which it definitely was not because anyone without a swipe key cannot enter the block without using the intercom to be allowed in, that did not happen but I checked at both entrances anyway in case they had followed someone in and just dropped it and left. My daughter, after a lot of back and forth was told the parcel is still at their Melbourne hub. Now they say it will be delivered on Monday. We'll see if they follow instructions this time.
Auspist is great where I am, they call up when it's parcels and wait for us to come down, they never just leave it.

Fortunately we have lifts or it would take me ages to get down to them, my knee is causing so much pain but will be okay soon as I get another Cortisone injection. Being an athlete when young leaves most of us with the potential for painful old age 🥴
 
It would be nice if the postie does the right thing like use the intercom I have sat home all day waiting then I received a email saying they tried to deliver the gate was locked bit hard when you don’t have a gate I have spoken to many people who say the same thin.The guys on the bikes are great no trouble.Jolly

Australia Post needs to get the service they already provide corrected.
I posted a letter last Tuesday week ,29th April to an address in the same postcode, It still hasn't arrived.
I received a parcel from Australia Post last night that was thrown half way up my stairs ,not left at the door.
The only reason I knew was because I heard the bang when it landed. Lucky it wasn't breakable.:mad::mad::mad:

Lucky you ,I live rural and they only deliver to PO so have to go pick it up same as my mail every delivery.If companies like Lite and Easy can deliver right to your door why can't others.

MY PHOTO TAKEN BY AUSPOST WAS DOWN AT MY LETTER DOX, NOT FRONt DOOR AS REQUESTED. JUST A LAZY BUGGER WHO DID NOT WANT TO CLIMB UP OUR DRIVEWAY. I found out due to photo taken as I had no idea where the parcel was.
