Australia Post has confirmed that the ‘postie’ doing wheelies on a scooter similar to an Australia Post delivery bike is not an actual employee of the company.
The footage shows a man doing ‘wheelies’ on a ride similar to an Australia Post delivery bike. Photos from 7NEWS.
On the recorded footage, the impostor was seen lighting a rolled cigarette before taking off in the scooter, which happened to be carrying an Australia Post logo.
The rider, who was wearing socks and thongs, proceeded to perform two wheelies.
Off-camera, a man was heard saying: “Me local postie, on the good stuff.”
Australia Post has issued a statement clarifying that the man in the video does not appear to be an actual employee of the postal company.
“Australia Post is investigating the incident; however, it does not appear to be an Australia Post employee or motorbike,” said a spokesperson for Australia Post.
“Australia Post takes safety very seriously, and these actions are not in line with our policies and procedures, and do not reflect the service we expect our people to deliver to the community.”
