Aussies reveal their TOP-RATED brands for frozen meals for 2022

We have previously reported about the looming supply shortages, leading to shelves going empty and grocery items getting more expensive in supermarket stores across the country.

In an unfortunate turn of events, the issue led to many Aussies stocking up on frozen food in fears of not having anything to eat.

While we do not encourage our members to hoard food supplies, we would like to share the list of Canstar Blue's top-rated frozen food items.

In a recent survey, Canstar Blue asked over 3,000 Aussies who have purchased or consumed frozen foods over the last six months in a bid to determine which among the retailers and brands sell the best frozen food item in each category — frozen meals, frozen fruits, frozen vegetables, frozen chips and wedges, frozen party food, frozen pies, and frozen pizzas.

The results revealed that ALDI, Coles, Borg's, and Sargents are the top brands you should check out if you are looking to get your hands on some frozen food items.

Here is the full list of the winners of Canstar Blue's Most Satisfied Customers Awards 2022:

Canstar Blue Home and Lifestyle expert Megan Birot suggested that we may opt to purchase some frozen meals as a substitute if we find fresh food inaccessible in our local supermarket, especially now that the supply chain challenges and COVID-related absenteeism are taking a toll on the availability of fresh produce.

“With fresh food in low stocks, Aussies may find themselves having to do without staple ingredients and this makes preparing meals more difficult or expensive if they need to buy items they normally wouldn’t,” Ms Birot said.

“Frozen meals are a great, long-lasting alternative to turn to during this supply shortage.”

The survey also asked the participants to rate the frozen fruits and vegetables available in supermarkets in a bid to find out which among the retailers get the highest marks for them.

Ms Birot revealed: “ALDI has topped the frozen fruits as well as frozen vegetables categories – with 49 per cent of consumers saying they purchase frozen fruits and vegetables to keep in the freezer as a backup.”

Canstar Blue also shared the criteria they used for the survey, revealing the preferences of Aussies when it comes to buying frozen food.

It was reported that convenience is the topmost priority with 67 per cent saying that this is the first factor they take into account when buying frozen meals, followed by price (15 per cent), and taste (13 per cent).
