Aussie mum discovers little-known product to make foggy headlights look brand new in just 5 minutes!

Is there anything more annoying than foggy and discoloured car headlights? Not only do they ruin the look of your car, but they also make it much harder to drive safely, especially in inclement weather.

Many of us have tried endless, time-consuming cleaning solutions such as baking powder and toothpaste in an attempt to restore our car’s foggy headlights to their former glory, but to no avail.

So, if you're one of those people who are looking for a quick solution to defog your headlights, then we've got good news for you!

Recently, a savvy mum discovered an easy solution to get foggy headlights looking brand new in just five minutes – no DIY skills required.

Sharing on Facebook, the motorist said she ditched the ‘boring’ way of restoring her Toyota Kluger headlights and opted for the $24.95 Headlight Restore Wipes instead.

'Something a little different but still so satisfying!' she wrote in a post on the Mums Who Clean Facebook group.

'I restored heavily oxidised and yellowed headlights on my Toyota Kluger.'

'Took me all of five minutes, and will last for up to six months.'

She also revealed that she utilised two separate wipes from the package in a two-step method to refurbish her headlights.

'You just wipe on the outside, [then] dry with a paper towel,' she added.

'Then wipe again with a second wipe that seals/protects.'

The mum didn’t have to remove the headlights to clean them, she only wiped the outside.

More than 2,000 Facebook users were amazed to read about the budget-friendly new product — which you can purchase online — with many voicing out their stunned reactions.

One comment read: 'OMG how? Looks amazing!'

Alternative headlight cleaning tricks using home items

We all know how important headlights are for safe driving; however, if you've ever found yourself with a pair of dull and foggy headlights, you'll know just how important clarity is when it comes to night-time visibility.

So, if you're looking for a quick and easy way to restore your headlights without having to shell out all your hard-earned money on professional car cleaning or specialty products, we have just the trick for you.

What you'll need is some Gumption cleaning paste, a wet microfibre cloth, and paper towel.

To begin, simply take a wet microfibre cloth and dampen the headlight you want to clean, applying a small amount of Gumption cleaning paste. Then, simply use your fingers to spread the product around, ensuring you cover the entire surface area evenly.

Once you have finished spreading the paste, buff the headlight with the damp microfibre cloth. After that, use a clean dry paper towel to remove any remaining residue. And, voila – you're done!

Alternatively, you can also use a mixture of toothpaste and baking powder to achieve a thorough clean. Start by making a paste with the two ingredients, then use a paper towel to spread it over the headlight.

Finally, use your fingers to rub the paste into the headlight just a bit more before wiping it off with a wet cloth.

The same result is achieved with both methods and you'll be left with brilliant, clear headlights that can help improve your visibility on the road at night.

Just remember the importance of safety when using any of these hacks at home. Make sure you’re wearing protective gloves and be sure to thoroughly wash your hands after you’re finished.

I've got no idea why those headlights turned yellow. Aged glass perhaps? If so, a car polish would work.
Older cars also have halogen lights which can turn yellow. These days cars use LED lightbulbs which never goes yellow.

Headlights used to be glass years ago but now they are some kind of plastic, thats why they discolour.
