She told reporters that more than 50 yabbies have been ‘displaced’ in her store.
‘They were in here everywhere. The water washed them in,’ she shared.
Jacinda added that she had been working to get them all back in the river.
‘I’ve been catching them all morning and releasing them out the back as the water recedes,’ she explained.
‘Poor buggers are just as confused as we are, getting washed out of their homes,’ she told reporters.
Jacinda shared the videos publicly on Facebook, with many people sharing a laugh over her unexpected visitors.
‘Oh my God buddy, you’re a ripper!’ She exclaimed in one video while holding up a yabby.
‘He’s a monster.’
Social media users commented on the video, some joked around and some were glad she let the yabbies go back to their ‘rightful home’.
‘Wanna save some for the rest of us?’ joked one woman.
In another video, Jacinda revealed that she added some of the yabbies she caught in her fish tank – but not for eating! She said it was to keep them safe from her dogs.
‘Poor little yabbies! Glad they’re safe,’ commented one.
‘Fancy putting yabbies in with the fish. [The] yabbies are going full tonight,’ joked another.
She said she was glad her videos were able to provide some joy to viewers. ‘My thoughts are with everyone in our communities and the heartbreak they are feeling. If I can make people laugh and forget about their sorrows for just one minute it’s better than doing nothing.’
