Ah, the Freddo Frog.
All those childhood memories of visiting the corner store and picking up that beloved Freddo Frog chocolate, taking that first bite of the sweet, delicious Cadbury bliss.
Aussie expats and foreigners alike are truly missing out if they haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing the Freddo Frog.
But it appears that Freddo Frogs abroad are different to their Aussie counterparts, leaving an Australian expat who is living in Canada ‘outraged’ by the design of a Freddo Frog his friend had purchased from a shop in the United Kingdom.
The image of the chocolate revealed a notable difference in the design of the two frogs, with many commenting that it looked like Freddo was trapped in a ‘coffin’.
'I live in Canada. My friend gave me a Freddo Frog from a UK shop. What is this thing,' the user wrote.
Unlike the beloved Freddo Frogs in Australia, British Freddos appear with a border around its body.
The difference in designs has grabbed the attention of social media users, with one commenting: 'Since when were Freddo Frogs shaped like they're stuck in a coffin?'
While another added: 'That's a bl***y outrage!'
And a third explained: 'That’s not how they are down here. It’s pretty much that but without the tombstone.'
Despite the fury of many Aussies, the UK Freddos has actually caused a bit of a stir in Britain too. In fact, a so-called ‘Freddo Index’ has been created to measure inflation, given the skyrocketing prices of chocolates over the last few years.
Based on the calculations of Full Fact, an independent fact-checking organisation in the UK, the price of Freddos had reportedly risen five times faster than inflation.
In other news, earlier this year, after delighting our taste buds for half a century with the much-loved Freddo Frog, Cadbury Australia has revealed an exciting brand-new character: the Caramilk Wallaby.
This brand new character pays homage to our iconic Wallabies and Wallaroos rugby teams, as well as our adorable national wildlife.
The Caramilk Wallaby is made with Cadbury's caramelised white chocolate and is available for $3 (down from its original price of $5 at Woolworths!) in a sharepack with twelve pieces at 12g per Wallaby chocolate.
