Aussie cricket players retaliate against a vocal English fan in the stands!

Aussie cricket lovers are no strangers to the occasional banter and sledge in the stands that can tickle your funny bones or sometimes irk your nerves. As was the case between Australia and England recently, which brought unexpected drama to the stands…

This time, however, it led to a bit of a face-to-face altercation between a vocal England supporter and some Aussie cricketers.
It took place at the legendary cricket ground, The Oval, in London.
Australian cricket stars Marnus Labuschagne and Usman Khawaja had a clash with a particularly animated England fan who decided to throw verbal barbs at the players on their way off the field after a tiring day three of the ongoing Ashes Test series.
A video circulated on social media after it captured the England supporter repeatedly yelling 'boring' at virtually every Australian player as they climbed the stairs back to their dressing room.
Hearing the comment, Marnus Labuschagne retorted to the fan's impertinent 'sledge' by turning his head towards him and responding, ‘Hey, what did you say, mate?’
Meanwhile, Khawaja preferred maintaining peace and reminded the sledger to ‘calm down, calm down’.
The fan then changed his tune and apologised to the athletes.
But Labuschagne didn’t seem too impressed with the unexpected apology, remarking: ‘Well, you just had a go at everyone else.’
Khawaja defused the situation, escorting Labuschagne up the stands.

However, that wasn’t the end of the issue.
Former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist, who seemed livid with earlier shenanigans from England supporters of having mocked Mitchell Starc, resorted to social media to voice his frustration.
The mocking involved an incident when Starc dropped a catch over the boundary rope, to which Gilchrist referred sarcastically in his tweet as 'grown men' actions.
Even Ricky Ponting didn’t escape this chaos when he was hit with grapes while broadcasting from the side of the field. Sky Sports host Ian Ward tried to diffuse the situation. However, Ponting refused to let it slide.
‘I’ve just been hit by a grape,’ the Australian cricket legend said, shaking with rage. ‘I wouldn’t mind finding out who that was actually.’
These unpleasant incidents led Khawaja to voice his concerns about bringing his family to matches.
He showed his support for the Australian players who were subjected to verbal abuse during the Second Test at Lord's, condemning the offending members for bringing ‘shame’ on the respected Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
All said and done, the spirit of cricket does call for respect and camaraderie among all involved—players, officials and yes, even spectators.
