Attacker brutally drags elderly man from his car as his wife watches in horror

In a harrowing incident that has left a Perth community shaken, an 89-year-old grandfather was violently dragged from his car in his driveway.

At the same time, his terrified wife could do nothing but watch the ordeal unfold.

The shocking event, which was captured on camera, has sparked a conversation about the safety of seniors and the brazen nature of crime in quiet neighbourhoods.

Ken, the elderly victim, had just returned home from a pleasant lunch with his wife when their sense of security was shattered.

At approximately 2:35 pm on Tuesday, a 32-year-old stranger approached them in their Armadale driveway with ill intent.

The assailant allegedly yanked Ken from his vehicle, a Mercedes, and shoved him to the ground with such force that the grandfather sustained a bruised hip and grazed wrist.

'I fought with him there, opened the door three or four times to try and get him out, but my strength of trying to move someone half my age was pretty hard,' Ken recounted.

The physical altercation was not only a traumatic experience for Ken but also for his wife, who is now too frightened to sleep in their home.

About 10 minutes prior, another confrontation took place on Dawson Street in Armadale, where the same assailant allegedly stole a mobile phone from a man in his 70s after a verbal altercation.

Thankfully, the police were swift in their response.

The stolen car was located, and the suspect was arrested in Gosnells the following day.

Ken expressed a sense of relief upon hearing the news of the arrest.

'I think he's a first starter, so I'm quite pleased that he's been caught and taken away for a little bit of time,' he said.

The 32-year-old man from Saint James has been charged with a slew of offences, including one count of aggravated robbery, one count of stealing a motor vehicle, one count of stealing, and one count of attempted home burglary with intent.

He was scheduled to appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on Thursday.

I'm willing to bet that he will get a slap on the wrist and told to not be a naughty boy in the future. The law is nowhere near tough enough on these criminals. If he is just starting out, he could possibly end up killing someone - either accidentally or on purpose.

He will plead MENTAL ILLNESS, "Your Honour, I was mentally disturbed and did not know what I was doing".
Or plead, "I was under the influence of a substance a friend gave Me".
Either way, the legal system will take pity on him and suspend any sentence, as they always do, SICKENING. BLOODY SICKENING.
lock him up a MINIMUM 5 YEARS of ⚒️⚒️HARD LABOUR, "Your Honour grow a set of BALLS and do it". 👨‍⚖️

Every night on the News, all you see these days, is what young waste-of-space kid has done, whether it's stealing cars, house burglaries or violent attacks on the elderly.
Until magistrates get tough on these
young criminals, It's going to get worse !!
The police do their job and catch them, then Magistrates let them out on bail to re-offend.
Australia used to be a safe place to live, but unfortunately now, it's just like America with so much crime.
Cristafelli has said he'll change the laws on young offenders....now's his chance to prove his promises. 😬😡

Hi Deni67,

Another of our members asked the same "?"
I always went under NOVEZAR for postings etc., as my user name.
Going back a little while ago, I lost all availability to reply to postings, also along with clicking onto emoji's for likes etc.

I had to reach out to the office of SDC for help.
Now, I am going with my email as user. Many members recognised me using NOVEZAR, where not, as under my email, where they may think that I'm a newie on the block.

I just wanted the members to know it was just little old me.
I like to sign off with "N". Hope that has satisfied your query.

NOVEZAR.

I fully agree with you, all they get is a slap on the wrist, he should be locked up for a long time, our laws are stupid, the law seems to help the crim and not the poor person that's been attacked. We should copy the laws in Singapore where you can walk the streets any time of the day or night and you are safe, you are certainly not safe to walk the streets in Australia, there is soooo much crime in this country. Its no longer the country.
