Members, if you own a turbo-diesel GT version of the 2018-2022 Peugeot 3008 or 5008 SUV, this article is for you.
These popular vehicles have been recalled after an issue involving emission compliance surfaced.
526 examples of diesel ‘GT’ versions of the 2018-2022 Peugeot 3008 and 5008 SUVs have been recalled by Peugeot Australia due to a faulty diesel particulate filter (DPF), which may cause the vehicles to violate emissions regulations.
Two separate recall notices were issued—first for 194 examples built between 2018-2019 and second for 332 examples built between 2018-2022.
According to the recall notices of the Department of Infrastructure, ‘The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) may crack due to overheating. If this occurs, the DPF may not operate as intended resulting in an increase of tailpipe emissions.’
'There is no safety hazard, and if this occurs, the defect will not affect the performance of the vehicle,' it added.
‘If the defect occurs, the vehicles would not comply with the Australian Design Rule ADR79-–Emission Control for Light Vehicles.’
Only examples of the 2018-2022 Peugeot 3008 and 5008 GT, which are powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine, are affected and not its turbo-petrol variants.
The complete list of vehicle identification numbers for the 526 vehicles included in the recall can be found here (2018-2019) and here (2018-2022).
Peugeot Australia has advised affected owners to contact their nearest authorised Peugeot dealer immediately to have the work carried out for free.
You can find more information and find out if your model is affected by contacting Peugeot's customer relations team on 1800 307 607.
