In the age of the internet, it's more important than ever to protect yourself from cybersecurity threats. With so much of our lives now lived online, from shopping and banking to socialising and entertainment, we are increasingly vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
That’s why it is important to stay on top of the latest information regarding online threats that could pose risks to our security.
Keeping this in mind, Apple users are being alerted of a new bug that is being exploited by hackers that could allow them to take control of Aussie phones.
Apple has recently released security advice recommending all iPhone owners enable a new software update to protect themselves against cybersecurity threats.
The tech giant reported that 11 flaws were corrected in the iOS 15.7 update.
The main flaw, which Apple identified as code CVE-2022-32911, may 'execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges', allowing an attacker to upload malicious code to the target device and deceive the system into running it.

The alert read: 'Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.'
Other issues included the potential for programmes to read sensitive location data and bypass privacy settings, as well as a website's capability to follow users through Safari browser extensions.
So, how can we protect ourselves from falling victim to a cyber attack?
A patch that users can download was released by Apple on Monday for the iPhone 6 and subsequent models, the iPad Air 2 and later, the 5th generation iPad, the iPad Mini 4 and later, and the iPod touch (7th generation).
The update should download automatically upon its release. However, for some users whose phones are disabled from downloading updates, the security updates can be downloaded right away by going to their general settings and selecting the software update tab.
