Animal Rescue in S.A.

Good Morning, I have seen a video on Face Book from a Mr Mark Aldridge, claiming that he and other Animal Carers can no longer catch and release animals any more, nor collect injured Animals nor euthanise Injured animals on the side of the road, that the Police will no longer be available to either remove or euthanise an injured animal.

Apparently Mr Aldridge and other Animal Carers have received Cease and Desist notices. My Wife and I belong to an Animal Carers Group here in W.A. We raise Orphaned Joeys and release them back into the bush, we have been doing this for many years, we move dead animals from the road and try to assist or euthanise injured animals on the road side.

We are asking for further information in regards to Mr Aldridges claims as we are concerned that there may be some truth behind the claims which would affect everything we love doing in regards to our Native Animals, or are the claims just mischief making?

Thank you for taking the time to read my request.

Hello @antnette! Would this be the video you're referring to?

I've tried looking around for any news reports of WA animal rescue groups with the same problem as Mr Aldridge but I've had no luck.

As I understand however, there seems to be a permit needed for 'rehabilitating fauna' according to the WA Parks and Wildlife Service.

Perhaps it would be best to reach Wildcare at (08) 9474 9055 regarding your concern and pending other responses from people with more knowledge on the matter.

Hopefully other members would be able to shed some light on this! :D

Thank you Jarred, yes the post you have is the Post that we are referring to. We asked the question as we in W.A. couldn't find anything similar here either. We know that we will do all that we can to protect our Carers right to try to help and save our Wildlife.
