ALDI releases new range of turntables in its stores nationwide

ALDI is bringing back turntables and we are so excited!

These beautiful machines are perfect for anyone who loves the sound of vinyl, but doesn't want to spend a fortune (we’re looking at you, @Vinylted).

For just $69.99, you can get your hands on one of these turntables, which come in a range of colours including floral, mint, and black. And if you're a fan of KIIS FM, you'll be pleased to know that the turntables come with an inbuilt FM radio!

To get your record collection started, Aldi will also have a range of albums available.

For those of you who own old records and are looking to nab this stylish ALDI offering or we’ve inspired you to dust off an old turntable from storage, we have a few tips to help you get the best sound quality out of them.

1. Make sure your turntable is level.

An uneven surface can cause the needle to skip, making your listening experience unpleasant.

2. Clean your records.

If they're dusty, give them a quick wipe with a soft cloth. You may also use a record cleaning kit for removing more stubborn dirt.

3. Check the condition of your needle.

A worn-out needle will not only make the sound of your record fuzzy, it can also damage your records.

If you're not sure, it's always best to replace it.

4. Don't touch the needle.

Once the needle is on the record, resist the temptation to adjust it. Let the record play all the way through without skipping.

5. Make sure the volume on your receiver or amplifier is turned down before you cue up the record.

This will allow you to adjust the volume until it's at a comfortable level.

6. Enjoy the music!

There's nothing like kicking back with some good music to relax with.

I have a turntable and every time I get it out and set it up I wonder why I don't use it more, there's nothing quite like hearing the music and songs through a turntable, the quality is outstanding. No wonder folk are going back to vinyl.:);)

We got rid of our record collection years ago. We had over 300.

Omg! No! That guy is full of it! There really is no need for such histrionics..... most of his cleaning advice is just so unnecessary. I worked for Palings EMI in both their recording studios and music stores for many years. I have a massive record collection which I have played constantly for more than 5 decades.

The most important advice is that it is essential to ALWAYS store records (45s, 33s & 78s) upright & in their sleeves. As this bloke said - never store horizontally, but even records leaning is going to cause warping over time. Upright means on edge, on the point of the record edge - not slightly sloping. Keep records completely upright even if it means using folded cardboard or a folded towel to support them. The best storage systems have rigid dividers every dozen or so records so they won't lean at all (think those walls of storage we used to see in record shops etc.....not the display bins but where the stock was kept). There is no need to buy special sleeves either - my 45 & 78 collections are all in their original paper sleeves and there is no paper residue. Ever. My 33s have various types of sleeves inside cardboard covers and all are in perfect condition even after decades of use.

Equipment wise - you get what you pay for .... you're not going to get good sound quality out of cheap equipment no matter how clean your records are - though most expensive isn't always best either. We all have a different 'ear' so the best way to purchase sound equipment is to listen to it. We used to recommend customers bought one of their favourite records with them and listen to it on various sound systems to find the right sound for them.

I could go on and on but I won't 😂😂
