ALDI drops new $5 treat shoppers call game-changer

One budget-friendly supermarket is stirring up excitement once more with a new treat that's got sweet tooths and savvy shoppers talking.

Word is, a chocolatey crowd-pleaser is landing soon, at a price that’s hard to ignore.

Set to arrive later this month, it’s already making waves online, and if past trends are anything to go by, shelves might not stay stocked for long.

So, what’s all the fuss about? Hugos Pistachio Bombs are ALDI’s answer to the viral Dubai chocolate trend that’s been sweeping the globe.

For those not in the know, Dubai-style chocolates are famous for their decadent layers of creamy pistachio and crunchy knafeh (a Middle Eastern pastry), all wrapped up in a rich milk chocolate shell.

Usually, these treats come with a hefty price tag—some versions sell for as much as $20 a box! But ALDI, true to form, is bringing the luxury for less.

Early reviews are already rolling in, and the verdict is overwhelmingly positive. Melbourne foodie Nectro Vlangos managed to snag a box ahead of the official launch and described them as 'basically like the Dubai chocolate but in ball form.'

While he noted the knafeh crunch is a bit more subtle than the original, he still found them 'delicious' and an excellent value for the price.

And it’s not just Nectro singing their praises. The popular foodie sisters behind Eating Up With The Hannashians declared the Pistachio Bombs 'such a slay,' raving, 'It’s like the Dubai chocolate bar but made into a ball... These are so good, slay all day... These are delicious.'

One even went so far as to say they’re better than Lindt’s $20 Dubai Style Chocolate blocks—now that’s a big call!

What makes these treats so irresistible? Each bomb features a milk chocolate shell filled with layers of creamy pistachio and crunchy kataifi (knafeh) pastry.

The result is a bite-sized explosion of flavour and texture—think Maltesers, but with a sophisticated pistachio twist.

Some shoppers have even started popping them into their matcha lattes or hot chocolates for an extra-indulgent treat. Talk about a winter warmer!

If you’ve noticed pistachios popping up everywhere lately, you’re not alone.

This humble nut has long been the star of Middle Eastern desserts like baklava, but it’s recently become the 'it' flavour in everything from gelato to croissants.

The pistachio craze really took off after Dubai chocolatier Sarah Hamouda’s viral pistachio bars hit social media in 2021, and now it seems everyone wants a taste.

ALDI’s Pistachio Bombs are the latest—and most affordable—way to get in on the trend.

At just $5, they’re a fraction of the price of other luxury versions, making them perfect for sharing with friends, gifting, or just treating yourself to a little everyday indulgence.

If you’re a regular ALDI shopper, you’ll know their Special Buys and limited-edition snacks have a habit of flying off the shelves.

From cult-favourite cheeses to viral desserts, ALDI's knack for delivering gourmet goodies at bargain prices means you have to be quick to avoid missing out.

The Pistachio Bombs are expected to be no different, so mark your calendars for June 25 and get ready to join the queue!
