ADBLOCK Warning

Hi Everyone,
I have been pestered by adverts & popups on my computer for ages. Decided to do something about it. Posted on one of the Australian Groups my question & it was suggested I clear my cache & cookies, which I did, this really speeded up the computer. Still the adds kept arriving. Searched & found ADBlock and looked at the page, and clicked on this company filled in details and clicked enter, I immediately knew this was a mistake and got out of there. Thought nothing more of it BUT when I shopped at Bunnings the next morning I could not use my Credit Card. Checked & still nothing out of my account. Rang my bank next morning & sure enough an attempt had been made to withdraw from my account. It is a real company but they do like to take as much money out of your account as they can. Fortunately for me my credit union is exceptionally good in stopping these attempts. I was fortunate but many are not. I contacted Trend & they have a free adblock on their account which my friend sorted for me. There are so many scams out there we all have to be careful. I have only lost one credit card until a new one arrives but it could have been more.

My Adblock was free as it was an app on my laptop. Isn't it standard these days?
I knew nothing about adblock but found out after the attempted scam. No excuses but I knew as soon as I clicked on enter that I had made a mistake. Trend Microsoft on my computer informed me there is an add on their system, free which a friend downloaded for me. I wanted others to be aware. :D

I had AdBlock for 12 months. Signed up when they had a special offer. This year it would be over $100 to renew. Decided to unsubscribe, and cancel. Their website gave me the runaround. Took several Emails to get through to them. Finally had success. Then they pestered me to return at very low cost. Noway. Not worth it.

Hi Donna May, I have also made the same stupid mistake with Ad block. I cancelled it in March of this year but they are still taking money out of my a/c. I am trying to get a refund but not having much success, a stupid mistake I made.

I had the same problem with a different company. My bank stopped my credit card & issued a new which they could not access. Three month later I received an email from this company that my subs. had been cancelled even though it had not been taken from my account. I think the artificial intelligence does not reason so there are the problems. Thanks for reading & replying.
