Actress Kristen Stewart says that being ‘extremely famous’ helped her relate to Princess Diana as she plays the late royal in an upcoming film
Actress Kristen Stewart rose to prominence at the age of 18 following her leading role in the box office hit Twilight and her real-life romance with leading co-star Robert Pattinson.

Now the actress claims that she understands Princess Diana's struggles on being consistently in the public eye as she plays the royal in the upcoming film Spencer.

'It’s feeling constantly watched, no matter what you do. If you’re in public, someone in the room is looking at you at all times,' the actress told The Sunday Times.

She also admitted: 'Even if they’re not, it’s at the back of your mind. That is a feeling you only have if you’re extremely famous. It’s a completely different approach to being a human.'

The 31-year-old was launched into superstardom at the age of 18 by playing the lead role in the Twilight franchise, a popular trilogy that made $3.3 Billion at the box office — a feat which caused the paparazzi to hound her for years.

When asked about the comparisons between Lady Diana's fame and hers, the actress answered: 'The attention is something I can see a parallel in, but the cumulative expectation? Not remotely there.'

She also admitted that she found it 'weird' to 'inhabit a space where people are disappointed in your choices,’ before insisting that she herself has tried to be a figurehead or a role model, a job Diana had to do back when she was the Queen in waiting.

Spencer focuses on a fictionalised Sandringham gathering at Christmas 1991 — back when Princess Diana was at peak fame and was about to split from her husband Prince Charles.

The film follows Princess Diana's moments when she realised that she needs to 'veer from a path that puts her in line to one day be Queen.'

Spencer, written by English screenwriter Steven Knight, who also wrote the popular Netflix series, Peaky Blinders, is set for release on November 5.
