Reminds me of a former co-worker who was not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.....
Michael, whose nickname was Robbo; the most common shout we would hear from our boss (a retired Army Lt.Col) was "Christ, you're naïve Michael!", at least once a day.
On the day he left, we presented him with one of those A3-sized Farewell cards, into which I had written "Now that you're leaving, who will we find to make the rest of us look so professional?". He shook my hand and told me what a lovely sentiment that was......
 
Once heard of a foreman who didn't think he needed to support lamp posts while a trench was dug just a metre away from these down the length of a street. When one of these fell it was like dominoes. He was made a Occupational Health & Safety Officer. (Go figure - the more mistakes together with the size of the problem some people make ensures the higher they are promoted).

There's a very specific name for that behavior... it's called 'Politics'.
