A neighbour's dramatic reaction to a local issue goes viral

Few things spark neighbourhood drama quite like a pile of dog poo left where it shouldn't be.

Whether bagged and abandoned or left au naturel on the sidewalk, errant dog droppings have a unique ability to send tempers flaring and incite the most mild-mannered residents to shocking acts of revenge.

One fed-up local in Geelong, Victoria, recently took matters into their own hands after discovering a fresh 'deposit' on the nature strip in front of their home.

In a move that has the community buzzing, the irate resident erected a large sign next to the offending pile, complete with a giant arrow pointing directly at the evidence.

'If you left this dog poo here, you are,' the laminated sign began before launching into a scathing character assessment of the guilty party. 'A lazy, antisocial pr**k in desperate need of a hard-core attitude realignment,' the first bullet proclaimed.

Not content to stop there, the sign continued, 'Irresponsible and lazy—your dog deserves much better. Give your dog up for re-homing. We'll all be better off.'

As if public shaming wasn't enough, the sign also pointed out that the phantom pooper was 'breaking the law' according to local ordinances in the City of Greater Geelong.

Per the city code, 'a person in charge of any animal must not allow any part of the excrement of the animal to remain on any road or council land,' and pet owners 'must carry a litter device suitable to clean up any excrement left by his or her animal.'

Fines for such an offence can reach up to $1,923.10.

While the approach may seem extreme, hundreds of locals who saw a photo of the sign shared online overwhelmingly supported the neighbour's tactics. Many even shared their stories of going to great lengths to send a message to inconsiderate dog owners.

'My wife squeezed the poo left on our lawn through the old farts mail slot. It didn't happen after that,' one resident gleefully recounted.

Another described a neighbour's 'classy' wooden sign that simply said 'SHAME' in all caps, with the letters burnt into the surface.

The consensus was clear: 'It's a fair call. It's not hard to pick up your dog's s**t,' one local summed up. 'If you own a dog, you have to be responsible for it. No one likes standing in dog shit.'

So dog owners, consider this a warning. Failing to scoop the poop could land you in a messy situation with your neighbours—and your wallet. The next time your pup needs to go, do the right thing and bag it up. Your community will thank you.

A similar situation played out in Epping, a suburb in Sydney's northwest, and has sparked a heated debate across the nation.

A resident, upon reviewing their home security footage, was taken aback to discover a dog walker nonchalantly entering their driveway and depositing a bag of dog poo into their red household bin.

Surly some bright genius could design a box like toilet to strap on when they take their pet for a walk. Or a pair of trousers with a bag hanging between the back legs.
Reminds me of a maligned goose who proposed to the Shoalhaven City Council to pass a motion (pun intended) that all male dogs wear a "garment" that hides their dangly bits from view.

True, you should clean up after your dog, but, the people in Epping are all UP THEMSELVES, anyway !
hahaha same could be said for a lot on the northern beaches. I have a toy poodle that always leaves deposits on our walks...sometimes it's like if you take your eyes off it for a second you lose where it is....moral to this story is to always have that bad out ready.

We used to have a lot of dog poo under the tree on our footpath. I have attached a dog poo bag dispenser, (complete with bags), to the tree, and since then (about 18 months now), there have only been 2-3 incidents of dog poo left under the tree. I even received a nice note from someone who appreciated the bags there, as they sometimes had run out of bags while walking their dog.
