A Mother’s Day nightmare - former private school boy shares cryptic Mother’s Day post after BEING STABBED by his mum

No matter how picture-perfect a family may seem, each and every one has hidden battles to conquer behind closed doors. And unfortunately for some, these battles result in a much bigger mess than what’s considered normal.

One man who was stabbed viciously by his own mother shared a cryptic message to his Instagram followers on Mother’s Day.

Back in November 2020, former private school boy Hugo Ball (then aged 22) was attacked by his mother Samantha Palmer at their mansion in the exclusive eastern Sydney suburb of Bellevue Hill.

Last September, she dodged being placed behind bars after a court sentenced her to a 17-month intensive correction order after she pleaded guilty to a charge of reckless wounding.

A two-year Apprehended Violence Order was also put in place preventing Palmer from being anywhere near her son, unless through a lawyer or if they decided to reconnect for family counselling.

The court acknowledged that Palmer was battling PTSD as a result of threats, intimidation, and assaults from her drug-addicted son prompting her to completely lose control over the situation and stab him repeatedly with a butcher’s knife that almost took his life.

Now, 18 months after the grave incident, Hugo Ball has shared several mysterious social media posts in honour of Mother’s Day, urging his followers to ‘treasure’ their mothers and ‘make them proud’.

“Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing women out there being the backbone of a family structure strong,” he captioned his Instagram story. “Treasure her, you really have no idea what you’ve got until it’s gone … Believe me.”

Ball then decided to disclose new details about the incident in a follow-up Instagram story and hit back at claims that he was ‘attention-seeking’ by sharing his story.

In the second Instagram story, he detailed that he had been stabbed nine times during the attack, leaving him with wounds approximately 12 centimetres deep that were just 2 millimetres away from his heart – which he explained would have caused ‘instant death’.

“And for the people that think I’m attention-seeking, get stabbed 9 times – 12 centimetres deep and 2 millimetres from your heart (instant death) from your own f***ing mother,” he wrote.

“Sorry to be quite literally shocked into having to say this on my page for sensitive readers. I’m not trying to gain followers and the girls that think this is my way of hitting on you and attention-seeking play in f***ing traffic!”

“Block me you degenerates. The message is to appreciate what you have and have a wonderful Mother's Day. Love your family as well, number one.”

Last August, Ball was convicted and sentenced to an 18-month good behaviour bond after admitting to stealing $400 from an elderly woman who had been withdrawing the cash from an ATM at Bondi Junction. But a magistrate decided not to put him in jail, arguing that he was making progress in recovering after his drug use heightened in the wake of the stabbing.

The court heard that at the time of the theft, Ball was using ‘ice’ or Crystal methamphetamine multiple times daily and was unable to recall committing the crime. The court was told about how Ball felt ‘lost’ during that period, admitting that it was a ‘low thing to do’.

After his arrest on May 25 last year, Ball was sent to rehabilitation, including a 28-day stay at a clinic on the north shore, and had only relapsed once in his sobriety at the time of his court appearance.
