A conversation about Stomas

I received a Stoma on the 30th of April 2024, not too long ago.
It was emergency surgery after I was rushed to hospital in the early hours of the 29th of April,
the anniversary of my beautiful sons death seven years earlier, i'm not religious but I swear he
was watching over me ❤️
I remember none of it, not the ambulance drive, nor being taken for a cat scan and then rushed into
surgery.
They removed a very large tumor that was diagnosed as stage two bowel cancer and at the time they
said they got the lot so I was cancer free at that time.
All I remember is waking up a few days later with a Stoma attached to me.
What I would like to ask the wonderful members here is the word Stoma taboo?

I'm not shy in letting people know, but I don't advertise the fact unless she decides to "make noise",
which can be most embarrassing when you're out, yes, your belly farts and it can be very loud lol.
I quickly try to cover it over with my hand, but sometimes it's to late.
There is a special belt I can wear to muffle the noise which I find a bit uncomfortable, the velcro on it
is like super glue trying to take it off, damn that stuff is good!
I have a few horror stories about mine, like having a Colonoscopy recently, the operation itself wasn't
too bad but the prep before hand was a nightmare in the making, I won't go into details but i'll just say
I couldn't leave the house until it was time to go to the hospital, even then it "leaked" while I was
in the waiting room 😂
So is anyone else here brave enough to tell their story or do you have family members or friends that
have this "thing" attached to them?
I have been told I can have mine reversed but i'm not sure I want that yet, if at all.
