A ‘Ruff’ Ride

Today’s blast from the past was taken in 1962.

The photo shows a toddler riding a small cart pulled by a dog, and if this isn’t what the word ‘cute’ is all about, I don’t know what is! It also shows the role of pets in the Australian growing-up experience.

I remember having a dog named Enya (yes, after the singer!), who I absolutely adored --- and still do up to now. She always was the first thing I came home to during my primary school years all the way up to uni, and she never failed to trot up to me and lie down for a much-deserved rub on her belly! It's been years since she crossed the rainbow bridge, but it feels like only yesterday she was snuggling up to me for a pat on the head.

How about you? Did you have a favourite pet growing up? Tell us below!

A golden cocker spaniel. Dads hunting dog, being a far to adventurous kid in the country my mum used to panic when I was MIA for to long, he just told red to go find me. No matter how far away there he was with a big, Found you and a goofy grin on his furry face.

We had many animals including a couple of cats and a dog. From time to time we had other animals added to these such as a guinea pig, several mice and a few strays of various kinds that my sister found and tried to find the owners without success. She was so soft hearted that she'd bring them home to share with my brother and I.
