4-Ingredient, Sugar-Free Caramel Sauce Recipe

There's no denying that topping a simple dessert with caramel sauce is a great way to elevate it and turn it into something special. Caramel sauce is the perfect complement to Australian treats like macadamia nuts, biscuits, and Tim Tams.

What's better is that it is a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of desserts, from pies and cakes to ice cream and pudding.



However, caramel sauce is one of those delicious indulgences that we all know we probably shouldn’t be eating much of. After all, we know that caramel sauce is loaded with sugar and calories.

A single serving of caramel sauce can have over 200 calories and 40 grams of sugar. That’s more sugar than a can of Coke!

But we can’t help it – it’s just so good! So, how can we go about this issue?

Well, fitness coach Stephanie Manzinali, better known for her TikTok username @that.veganbabe, has recently revealed how you can make caramel sauce without using any sugar.

No need to take a double look, folks! This stuff is magical! It tastes just like the real thing without using any ingredient that contains sugar.

So, if there's no sugar, why does it taste like caramel?

Apparently, the secret behind this flavour is the use of medjool dates. The fruit is often used as a delicious and healthy alternative to refined sugar and has a caramel-like flavour that is perfect for use in oatmeal, smoothies, dressings, and sauces.

Making the sugar-free caramel sauce is also simple: just simply soak medjool dates in water for three hours to soften, then strain and reserve the water you used.

Add the dates to a blender with vanilla and a pinch of salt, and blend until smooth. Finally, add the reserved water to make the consistency of the sauce as thin (or thick) as you like.

And that's it! It is now ready to serve.

The sauce can also be stored in the fridge for up to two months.
