The car I learnt to drive in was a second hand EH Holden, white, column shift and heavy as lead. No power steering then! But I did love the front quarter windows you could open and get a nice breeze as you drove along. The other downside was the vinyl seats which were hot as hell if you didn't have seat covers (which I didn't ) and had to throw your beach towel over them so you could bear to sit on them. Most memorable drive in that car was driving to work in very heavy rain and the windscreen wipers packed it in. If anyone knows Pennant Hills Rd in Sydney in peak hour you don't stop. Thank goodness for the fluoro pink cement truck in front of me that I slowly followed until I could turn off the main road! Totally agree about the boring colours these days.

This reflects the way our lives are. Back then we had flower power, ban the bomb, hippy heaven and woopy weed! Now the world is doom, gloom, unemployment, homelessness, diseases wars and fifty shades of grey paint.
I like the way you think! And do you want to know why I think it all went to sh*t?……the internet
