1970 and 2022 / 1970 and 1918 - 52 years

We talked about this last night..... strange how, in 1970, 1918 was so long ago and the music (and anything else) from that era wasn't relevant or considered "current", but in 2022 we still listen to 1970s music and watch 1970s tv shows (and my friend still drives his 1970 Corolla every day) . Guess it's because of the major upheavals caused by WWII, the invention of the phone, the tv, personal and public (especially international) transport etc. It's fascinating.

Yeah, this is a really interesting point, and something I have thought about as well. Not necessarily those specific dates, but a similar idea.

I think, as you mention, it has something to do with the rate of technological change. Radio, tv, flight (and space flight), mobile phones, computers, etc... All these were invented in the 20th century.

The 21st century, by contrast, seems to have been more about refining existing technology, e.g. smartphones, reusable rockets, etc.
