How the Scam Works ("Vishing")

• "Vishing" = Voice + Phishing – Scammers use AI voices to sound like someone you trust.
• They may claim to be from govt agencies, banks, or even a grandchild in trouble.
• The goal? Steal your money or personal info by tricking you into clicking links or sharing details.

How to Protect Yourself

Verify independently – If someone calls claiming to be from a trusted organisation, hang up and call back using an official number.
Check the number – Scammers often use fake or spoofed numbers.
Listen carefully – Does the voice sound robotic or unnatural? Is there a strange delay?
Never click links in unexpected texts or emails—even if they seem legit.
Report suspicious calls to Scamwatch (www.scamwatch.gov.au) or your bank.
