Beware of Internet Scams! Seniors, Stay Vigilant!

Hello everyone,
Scammers are getting smarter, and they often target people over 60 because they believe we are more trusting. Today, I want to share a real example of a common scam so you can recognize and avoid it.
The "Urgent Bank Call" Scam
A senior receives a call from someone claiming to be from their bank:
Scammer: "Hello, this is John from your bank’s fraud department. Someone attempted a transaction on your account!

To secure your funds, we need you to confirm your account number and move your money to a 'safe account.'"
Victim: "Oh no! What should I do?"
Scammer: "We need to act fast! Just tell me your card number, and I’ll help you now."
What happens next?
Once the scammer has the account details, they steal the money!
How to Avoid This Scam
Stay Calm & Verify – Banks NEVER call and ask for personal details over the phone. Hang up and call your bank directly.
Don't Trust Caller ID – Scammers can fake phone numbers to look like they are from your bank.
NEVER Share Personal Info – No bank will ask for your account details, PIN, or passwords over the phone.
Watch for Pressure Tactics – Scammers create urgency to make you act without thinking. Take a moment to verify.
Enable Alerts – Set up SMS/email notifications for any banking activity. This helps you catch fraud early.
Stay Alert & Spread the Word!
Share this post with other seniors so we can all stay safe online!
