How the Scam Works:
Fake Warning Message: Eloise gets a pop-up or call claiming her computer is “infected.”
“Tech Support” Impersonation: Scammers pretend to be from “United Data Group” and say her antivirus is “outdated.”
Fear Tactics: They warn her data will be deleted forever unless she acts now.
Remote Access Trick: They make her download friendlyfriend.net—a fake tool that lets them control her computer.
Bank Theft:
- They “accidentally” transfer money (fake!) and ask her to “verify” it by logging into her bank.
- Once she enters her password, they drain her accounts.
