My father was the most caring and thoughful man and whenever he was around everyone was happy and enjoying themselves with his help. This is what I remember about Fathers days spent with him

Many years ago….At my suggestion, we were heading to the city (Sydney) for a Fathers Day lunch at the Botanic Gardens. The boys (12&10) commandeered the trip and directed us to Darling Harbour where we stopped outside Sega World. Dad had to weigh up his choices and we ended up inside having the best fun ever! Duped again!

My Dad was a hard working man, and we kids were expected to be "seen and not heard" - but he was always so very pleased whenever we gave him any kind of a gift, from his favourite Cafe Cream cigars, to a hand made card - he would have this smile that just said "Love it!" and we kids were happy.

My father in law was a quiet man, not much given to conversation. I always tried to give him a gift that he would like, but never got much of a response at the time. Years later, when he suddenly passed away, my husband and I were going through some of his things to save Mum doing it, when I suddenly broke down - the reason? I had bought him a pair of Woody Woodpecker socks, his favourite character, and watched as he carefully put them away, thinking "oh he doesn't like them!" only to find them, well worn and with holes in one of the soles of - he liked them very much, so much so he had worn them out! And that totally undid me. Blessed man!
