‘Seeing his face all over is hurting my feelings bad’: Family and fans grieve beloved actor

He made millions laugh in their living rooms—but his final moments unfolded far from the spotlight.

A beloved TV star was swept away in an idyllic holiday setting.

His loss has sent shockwaves through fans and fellow actors alike.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for his role as Theodore Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died aged 54.

The actor tragically drowned while on a family trip to Costa Rica, according to local police who confirmed the incident.

Authorities said Warner was caught in a strong current while swimming and was found unresponsive on 20 July near Cocles Beach in Limon.

His official cause of death was listed as asphyxiation.

Warner's representative has not publicly commented on his passing.

Shortly before news of his death broke, a woman named Kimara—who identified herself as his cousin—shared her grief on social media.

‘My cousin died yesterday after drowning in costa rica,’ she wrote. ‘Yall pls be safe out here while travelling and doing water sports. Wear life jackets etc.’

She added in a separate post: ‘Staying off socials for the rest of the day cuz seeing his face all over is hurting my feelings bad.’

Warner had kept his family life largely out of the spotlight and is survived by a wife and daughter, whose names have not been made public.

He rose to fame as the witty and endearing Theo on The Cosby Show, which ran from 1984 to 1992 and became a cultural phenomenon.

Warner later starred in Malcolm & Eddie from 1996 to 2000 and Reed Between the Lines from 2011 to 2015.

He also appeared in Suits, The Resident, 9-1-1, and Alert: Missing Persons Unit.

Beyond television, Warner co-hosted the Not All Hood podcast, with the latest episode released on 18 July.

His decades-long career, marked by Emmy nominations and beloved characters, left a lasting legacy in entertainment.

He remained active in both acting and podcasting up until the days before his death.

The entertainment industry and his fans are now mourning a life cut short too soon.

Sadly, Warner’s passing isn’t the only recent tragedy involving a life lost near the water while on holiday.
