‘Life saver’ dog alerts owner moments before a seizure happens

On her TikTok account, Tina - who describes herself as an “epilepsy warrior” - posted a video of a frightening incident.

In an article written by Natalie Oliveri for 9Honey, what was supposed to be a recorded training session for Max quickly turned into a real-life situation.

The German Shepherd was being trained to alert his owner about how to react when she suffers a seizure.

"Trigger warning! This was supposed to be a training session clip but he alerted me to something I didn't know was coming,” she wrote on the video.

The video begins with Tina standing in front of the kitchen sink and Max laying on the floor next to her.

And then, the dog quickly gets up and stands on his back legs to get her attention. He then licks Tina’s face and refuses to stand down. He continues to stand next to her as she begins to feel uneasy.

Seconds later, she appears to stumble on her feet. Max then gets underneath her chest to prevent her from crashing down to the floor. He then lays underneath her to prevent her head hitting the ground.

After the incident, Tina has called her companion a "life saver" after he sensed that she was about to experience an actual seizure moment.

Thanks to the German Shepherd’s swift reaction, his owner got the medical attention she needed before an episode took hold.

The video gained over 5.2 million views and 730 thousand likes on TikTok. Comments flooded as people expressed support and amazement at such a talented buddy.

“It is mind blowing to me that dogs can sense things like these and protect us from ourselves,” one user commented.

“That is amazing! We don’t deserve them, but so so glad that we have them,” another added.

Tina has dedicated her account to raising awareness of epilepsy and how vital a role dogs can take in helping those who have the condition.
