From incredible achievements to the moments that make life truly meaningful, this legendary figure has shared insights that are nothing short of inspiring.

Dive into the article to see why his reflections have resonated with so many and how he’s showing that age is just a number.

These days, Dick Van Dyke feels deeply content with the life he has led.

The iconic Mary Poppins actor, who is set to celebrate his 99th birthday on 13 December, shared insights into his journey while appearing in Coldplay’s music video for ‘All My Love’.

Although the song was not originally penned for Van Dyke, the accompanying video transformed it into a tribute to his extraordinary career.

The video, set against the backdrop of his Malibu, California, home, showcased highlights of Van Dyke’s accolades and awards. It also featured heartwarming family moments and moments of poignant reflection.

In one touching moment, the Golden Globe-winning star showed that he still had his signature dance moves.

Barefoot and joyful, he moved with the energy of his younger self, replicating choreography reminiscent of his days on Mary Poppins and The Dick Van Dyke Show.

‘I’m acutely aware that I could go any day now, but I don’t know why, it doesn’t concern me, I’m not afraid of it,’ Van Dyke said in the video.

I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be alright.’

He added, ‘I think I’m one of those lucky people who got to do for a living what I would have done anyway. When you think how lucky I am — I got to do what I do, play and act silly.’

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin performed ‘All My Love’ on the piano as Van Dyke reflected on his incredible journey.

At another moment in the video, Van Dyke shared that his favourite lyrics from ‘All My Love’ were ‘Until I die, let me hold you if you cry.’

‘So beautiful,’ Van Dyke said with a smile.

The 98-year-old actor was surrounded by his wife, makeup artist Arlene Silver, and his extended family, which included his children and grandchildren.

The emotional video sparked heartfelt responses from fans on social media.

‘This made me cry with joy. I wish the world had a billion more like him,’ one viewer commented on the social media video.

Another fan wrote, ‘In a world plagued with confusion and uncertainty and war, and just plain craziness, these few minutes are a reminder of love, family, friendship, and music and dancing. A reminder that however old we become, we all begin the same way. I know I’ll come back to watch this, again and again.’

In September, Van Dyke spoke about how he wanted to be remembered after receiving his Creative Arts Emmy for outstanding variety special for Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic.

‘For laughter,’ he said, holding his award. ‘I hope for making people laugh for 75 years.’

Reflecting on his decades-long career after accepting the award, he said, ‘I’ve been in the business 75 years. I can’t believe that I’m still here and performing.’

‘I’m looking for work, if anybody has,’ he joked.
