What seemed like a typical pedestrian encounter at a traffic light quickly spiraled into something much more intense.
What started with a honk of a horn escalated into a fiery exchange that left onlookers shocked.
As emotions flared, the situation became anything but ordinary.
A heated exchange erupted at a set of traffic lights outside Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.
A pedestrian filmed the moment a driver launched into a foul-mouthed tirade after he crossed the street.
David Fredlein shared the incident in a social media video, stating he had crossed when the pedestrian signal was green on 30 January.
He claimed a BMW driver honked at him, which sparked the verbal confrontation.
‘I honked at me while crossing so I gave him the bird. Then he turned around and abused me,’ Mr Fredlein explained.
‘I saw him turn around to come back to me, so I got my phone out in preparation in case he was going to pull some BS and he did.’
As the driver returned to the traffic lights, Mr Fredlein stood his ground, pointing out the light was green and he was in the right.
‘Get off the f***** road and get the phone out of your hand,’ the driver yelled from his window.
‘It was green, it was green, you idiot,’ Mr Fredlein responded.
The altercation continued with the middle-aged driver, clearly displeased at being filmed, escalating his language.
‘You want to take a video, let me take a video of you, you little c***,’ he said.
‘This idiot, walks across the road like a termite,’ the driver added.
Mr Fredlein didn’t back down, responding: ‘Yeah when it’s a green crossing. You’ve got to learn the road rules, buddy.’
Fuming, the driver got even more inventive with his insults.
‘Yeah, and you’ve got to get your head out of your a***. Have a look at you,’ he snapped.
‘Are you married?’ Mr Fredlein asked, noticing the man’s wedding ring.
The driver, dressed in a blue shirt and yellow shorts, fired back with another insult.
‘Mate, do you ever have a shower? Have a look at you. Your hair is disgusting,’ he said.
‘Are you just jealous because you walk in the street in the cheapest f****** shorts? Have a look at your little pimply arms,’ the driver sneered.
Mr Fredlein stayed calm, responding: ‘Yeah, keep going. Keep going.’
The exchange continued until the left-hand arrow turned green, prompting the driver to storm off onto Coronation Drive.
Social media users couldn’t believe how quickly the driver became enraged.
‘His hands were shaking, adrenaline surging through his body. Flight or fight mode,’ one observer commented.
Another said: ‘Whose dad is that???? I’m so embarrassed.’
