Sadly for you with the attitude apparently shown by the assistant l doubt that would have been an option for you. Not every person who enters a shop is going to steal items are they? Was this a young assistant?

Yes, know the area well. Lived around Perth for 73 years. So you still hear those sirens then & l hope you did pull to the left as is required by law. [Some folk don't hear the sirens because the volume of their radio is shaking the windows.]

Not what was implied. The key words as l read it were 'hear' & 'bothered'. You don't have to be bothered by them but you still hear & recognise them for what they are even if they are a sound in the background. I am sure any person driving wouldn't ignore those sounds if they were coming from...

I am confused by, 'He hears the car sirens' & then, 'he doesn't notice it anymore'. Isn't this a contradiction? Hear but not notice?
