New premium meat hits markets with record price tag

Hogget was cheaper than lamb. My Mum bought a side of hogget once a fortnight, some sausages and mince. Mince you could make a variety of meals. Mince is no longer cheap. I think the marbling means more fat on it.

🎬 Father’s Day Giveaway: A Family Movie Day on Us!

Dad, a Motor Mechanic, serviced our car and forgot to check the spare wheel. We went for a holiday in the Flinders Ranges and "cut" a tyre on a dirt road that had some stones in it. The spare tyre was about 1/2 flat. The only pump we had was the now "old style" that you pushed down by hand. My...

New premium meat hits markets with record price tag

Lamb used to be a lot cheaper than a lot of other meat. You could buy a side of lamb or hogget (older lamb) and have it cut up the way you preferred. You knew exactly when you were getting, no badly cut chops hidden at the bottom. The one Mum went to wasn't more expensive than our nearest...

‘Why would they do this?’ The budget buy Woolies shoppers are heartbroken to lose

Possibly those foldable bags can be used as many or more times than the "fabric" green bags. It is not unusual for the stitching to come un-done on the green fabric ones. If people weren't so lazy the old style shopping bags could be used numerous times - for up to 12 months provided you don't...

From pocket change to pricey: Soft drink costs hit new highs

Buy a can or bottle in a servo or roadhouse and you will pay a lot more than that. I bought one late one night while travelling as I had heartburn and that is one thing which relieves it. I bought lemonade, not cola and it was $$ dearer than a supermarket.

Macca's bun mystery deepens as diners question strange white dots

Unless methods have changed South Australian apples are put on trucks and transported interstate. In fact 50 + years ago some were packed by growers, transported to Sydney then put on ships and exported to England. We know growers who lost huge crops of apples when the Suez Canal was closed...

Could a spelling mistake turn a $22 buy into a rare treasure in the future?

This is not about the spelling mistake. Kmart brand products would be manufactured by a large well known company. I wonder if Kmart are selling products with the manufacturers' names on them as well as their own brand. There is a huge range of Supermarket brand products that the "big name"...
