Landlords say pets destroy homes—tenants say they’re family. Who’s right?

That's exactly what will happen and that is exactly why I and others I know will no longer own a rental. Tenants have too many rights over other people's property. They are now allowed to hang things on the walls and even paint the walls as long as they return them to the original colour before...

    Gestetner machines

Me too. I was 16 working for a firm of consulting engineers in Melbourne. Typing literally hundreds of the wax stencils for this machine, over the years I worked there, was a nightmare. As the junior it was my job to print them off on the messy Gestetner. I was so glad when I moved up the...

Worried about being overcharged overseas? Here’s how to protect your budget

Also, when in Bali I saw people going into roadside market stalls to exchange money, because the rate is better than the official money exchange. There were 10,000 rupiah to the dollar at the money exchange and 10,125 at the market stall so to gain approximately $1.25 for every $100 they cash...

ALDI shoppers are divided over tap-and-go fees—where do you stand?

Was going to say the same thing. People, including myself, have given this advice over and over again. Its nothing new.

Parvovirus cases rise in Kimberley with vets treating up to 12 dogs a week

Oh Vegie, don't you know it's all a conspiracy foisted on us by the government and veterinarians, lol. Just had my three pets done. Not cheap, but a necessity.

One neighbour’s complaint just cost this Aussie $80 a month—could it happen on your street too?

You're right. Just common sense, which isn't very common these days.

Hospital pneumonia kills Wollongong man waiting for aged care bed

How sad for you Vegie that your poor Mum had to make this decision. ❤️

Totally agree. I have no time for people who say they can't afford immunisations or to have their animals sterilised. In that case you can't afford to have a pet.

My sympathies go out to you. To have your son treat you with such disrespect would be so heartbreaking. I send all my hugs and best wishes to you Carry on being pig headed and stubborn. It's got you this far.💞

One neighbour’s complaint just cost this Aussie $80 a month—could it happen on your street too?

I am not surprised at all. My son has a 120 acre property in NSW, he also owns a very large caravan that he was letting out, free of charge , to friends who were living rough because they couldn't get a rental property. He asked the council about being allowed to let other people, in similar...

You're not allowed to park your caravan permanently on the street either. If you can afford to have a caravan sitting around then you should have to have enough room to store it on your property or pay for storage elsewhere.

You are not allowed to rent out caravans on your property either, let alone on the council verge. That's absurd. Imagine if there were caravans being rented out up and down streets, on everyone's verges. Very sanitary, not!!

The caravan is not legally parked. That is what they have done wrong. Vegie is 100% right. You need to get a grip, and make sure you know what you are talking about before you comment .

It is s totally illegal to park a caravan on the verge. It is council land. Not yours. I'm absolutely amazed that these people got away with it as long as they did If you want to have a caravan, then you need to have room on YOUR PROPERTY to store it. It doesn't sound to me that $80/month is...

Thank you. It's a long time ago now. But occasionally an article such as this brings the memories back.

'Scambling' is an online gambling scam targeting First Nations communities

Gambling is a curse, it's addictive. My father loved to gamble. It didn't matter if there was no money for food, if bills weren't paid, he'd just borrow more money from family or friends. It cost him his marriage and his children I can still remember, as a child, my mother sitting up all...

'Scambling' is an online gambling scam targeting First Nations communities

Just remember they don't get to build such swanky casinos because the "house" looses. Eventually they always win, the odds are stacked against you.

'Scambling' is an online gambling scam targeting First Nations communities

Possibly they are more "targeted"?? These scumbags seem to target people from the lower socio economic communities as they are more likely to be desperate for more cash and make an easier target. I know quite a few single mothers who spend a lot of money playing the pokies, to the detriment of...
