Smack on her bottom is needed here. Break up or not, her first responsibility is to care for HER children. Tell the kids to keep hassling her until she gets up. The cafe is out of business.

Stop throwing away $2500 a year! The truth about food labels every Australian needs to know

I am a freezer devotee and have as much in there as I can. Use by dates are there because it is mandatory. Just got to use our common sense. You wouldn't eat fresh salmon that has been in the fridge for 2 weeks ... but ... you would if it was in the freezer.

Kmart shopper lashes out at staff after unexpected question in store

Bit of a *iss poor response. Shoes outside the store...Duuuuh!!! It would have been much easier for him to leave his work shoes on, then, someone in the store can look after cleaning. Storm in a teacup.

Stop throwing away $2500 a year! The truth about food labels every Australian needs to know

Lets not overlook the good old fashioned sniff test.

He ruled the track in the ’90s—now he’s fighting the battle of his life

It's amazing when I ponder about this. This man got behind the wheel of a power machine so many times without giving a thought to what may happen to him if things go wrong. One has to wonder how such a vibrant personality can deal with the outfall of an injury caused by playing on the snow. AT...

Calls grow louder for the government to stop stalling on home care

I find it amazing that someone who is critically ill does not affect the outcome of cases. You, being familiar with the system, must be finding it even more difficult to wrap your head around the pitfalls, and apparent lack of empathy one must face just to obtain adequate care and support. Your...

Family woken by rooftop break-in, raising fresh home security fears

If I could translate puppy talk, my Bonnie & Clyde would be saying.....SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH...SOMEONE TO PLAY WITH...YAAAY. Just as well we haven't had any break ins, knock on wood. Mind you, they would be hard pressed to find anything lying around in my house. Mini Fort Knox protecting ...

Esteemed Hollywood actor reveals plans for his future. Here's what's in store for his fans

Not a big Costner fan, but I don't think he cares too much. Good on him for working while he can, and hopefully, loves it. This thread reminds me of George Burns. When he was nearing 100, this is what he said : "Age to me means nothing. I can't get old; I'm working. I was old when I was...

He’s 52, on a scooter, and just nailed a wheelie—watch it to believe it!

My mum did a similar thing with her mobility scooter once. It was totally un-planned and a result of toppling over a steep incline. She ended up in hospital with dislocated hip and torn ligament. Yeah dude ... really smart. What a twit.

Desserts secretly increase heart attack risk as hidden ingredient triggers danger

My GP did his own research into salt. His conclusion was that the preferable salt to use is pink Himalayan rock salt. From survey results, this one won't raise the blood pressure. The same as anything else, use in moderation. Only drawback for me ... if I use it on boiling spuds or...

Older Australians lead lifestyle spending across travel, health, entertainment

I am the hero of all who choose not to travel. The furthest I go is a 3 hour drive from home. Last trip was with my two doggies to visit their mum and dad dogs at my sister's place. That's my kind of trip. A big treat for me is to go out for a restaurant meal in the company of people I care...

Hate demerit points? You’ll want to read this warning letter update

Yeah. I have come to the conclusion that many drivers think they will break their car if they use their blinkers. My hubby used to be one of them. Thankfully, I was his constant flea in the ear.

Scammers took $66.6 million from seniors—could this 30-minute tip stop them?

I demanded my insurer create a safe word when they called me. There was an on-going claim, however, when someone phones you and asks you for information to prove you are you ... alarm bells ring. In the end, the insurer saw the wisdom of my words and introduced the safe word. Now, if they ever...

'I'll never be your mum': A mother-in-law’s blunt remark has sparked debate—is she in the wrong?

I think the situation is a sad one all around. It is obvious the daughter in law is desperate for a mother figure and there are a lot of things that have to heal. The need to be included in everything is something that causes dis-harmony. Unfortunately, this is a symptom rather than a chosen...

Older adults with dementia misjudge their financial skills – which may make them more vulnerable to fraud, new research finds

That is why I have named my oldest boy, then as plan B, my oldest grandson to have the power of decision making should my faculties come to grief. It is a sad possibility that I may lose the the ability to decide whether to buy, or not buy, whether to sell, or not sell. Not only financial, but...

Calls grow louder for the government to stop stalling on home care

My husband was approved for level 4 November 2023. He died December 2024, still waiting for the funding to be released. I was told, on the down low, that approval is straight forward. Our problem would only be solved if someone already on level 4 dies. That must mean my husband stuffed up by...

'Am I in the wrong for not cooking 'fancier' meals—even if my partner keeps asking?'

There would be a back story there. It happens when parents don't want to, or are unable to, care for a child. It's either fostering, the streets, or a big hearted older sister. There's a lot of rubbish going on out there, some of which would make your hair curl.

Australia’s charity sector is growing – but many smaller charities are doing it tough

Watch the stats fall even more if a cashless society comes into the limelight. I am one of those people who always put spare coins in the Salvo's collection box. It saddened me to find one place that had an Eftpos set up for donations instead of the money box. I can't afford to give much, but...
