Tired of bin mess and rising council costs? This tip could save your nose (and your nerves)

My Sister has the same. in NSW. Unfortunately in Qld, well, Mackay, no such thing. so all rubbish goes in the general bin, and recycled products in the appropriate bin. Way behind the times here. There is a private contractor that one pays to collect the grass clippings and some...

Only flight attendants know this dirty truth about plane toilets—now you will too

Definitely. Cabin Crew have to put up with a lot. Some passengers don`t even thank them when receiving a drink etc. But to have to put up with toilets being abused through lack of education is beyond a joke.

The Coo of the Doves, The Hiss of the Guzunder

Sounds like when we were kids, when we stayed at Grandads place. Amazing garden, long drops, and lots of fun. Pick all sorts of berries and fruit and of course veges. Across the road the main railway line from Wellington to Auckland. So many Great Memories.

They meant well—but their fondness may have gone too far. What happened?

I always spoke to my Children, both in their 50`s, in proper English. I was lucky as both sets of Grandparents, and Family and Friends respected this and did the same. Both sides of the Family, the younger siblings, when they had children followed suit. All our kids and Grandkids...

Hi, just a question, did your ancestors come from Manchester, and some were in the London...

Hi, just a question, did your ancestors come from Manchester, and some were in the London area. My Grandfather, Harry Bagshaw was from Enfield, moved to NZ. I`m on ancestry. Great Grandfather and Family were in Manchester, and have a Cousin, few times removed, who lives in...

It’s come to this! Fruit shops now need signs to stop shoppers from snapping broccoli

Use the mushroom stalks in soups, stews and stirfries. Thats for the large ones. Button mushrooms, just cut through the lot and cook. A lot of people it seems, need to get a basic cook book on how to use vegetables. I have not a lot of waste, as use as much a possible, and when...

Worried about diabetes and rising grocery costs? This health debate could affect both

All these sugar free drinks are full of chemicals. I sometimes work in the Hospital shop, where all soft drinks are sugar free. When a person buys a can/bottle, they also buy chocolate, chips, or have a pie. At least the chocolate, in moderation, is not bad for one, but the other. ???

Shocking Reason Your Daily Car Habit Could Be Slowing Down Your Brain, According to a Doctor

Even with the air con on, I drive with the window down a tad. I need some fresh air. Grew up with windows open, summer and winter, (NZ), and do the same here. Both in the car and at home. Though seldom use the air con at home, as have a good breeze coming through the back windows...

Uber ignored older users for too long—until now

If you can get some Home Care help, if you have a Company in your area, even on Level 1, you can have a social visit with a drive included, or a Shopping trip. And if some time left in you package, get some basic house work done.

Fatal Victorian crash that saw 91yo driver hit three pedestrians puts focus on elderly driver rules

Also, all States should have vehicles checked yearly, as in NSW. Driving in QLD, is a nightmare. Especially at night. Also, there is no need for these yank tanks on the roads. They think they own it, and sit right on your bumper, even when doing the speed limit. Also take up too...

Is one of Australia’s coolest street about to change forever? Locals furious over new McDonald’s plan

Good luck in stopping a Mcdonalds in the area. For one thing, and sorry if it affends Mcdonalds fans, but the smell is disgusting coming from the joints. We have 1 close to the Dr`s I attend, also the Blood Bank, and it smells.

You won’t believe what this skin cancer doctor found—could you spot a melanoma that doesn’t look like a mole?

Working in the Community, Age Care, I was driving a lot. Always had a yearly Skin Check. This particular one, the Dr, asked when had I noticed the large brown colouring on my jaw line. Right side. Just thought it was one of those Age spots. No, it was a large deep Melanoma. Week...

Can a pizza box go in the yellow bin – or not? An expert answers this and other messy recycling questions

When living in Grafton, NSW, we often went to the tip to get recycled compost/soil. It was by the recycling plant. Guess Who were the people working it. Not Australians. People from overseas, mostly from Asian and Phillopines who did the job of sorting.

Freedom Behind the Gates: How ‘Dementia Villages’ Are Revolutionising Aged Care in Australia

So pleased that the concept is now in Australia. When doing a Dementia Course, (working both in a Facility and the Community) a number of years ago, I read that the concept is also in other European Countries.

Window down, world upside down: This woman got into an accident over something so simple! What happened?

I have the same problem. Drive a Sedan, but these yank tanks, sit on your bumper. Always make sure I`m doing the speed limit, and use cruise control when out on the open road. But these AH`s think they own the road. Always glad when there is a straight, they can overtake...

Dog owners battle hidden poison threat across country

Unfortunately, it is necessary to control wild dogs, who then kill young calves, lambs etc. Our beautiful dog died by eating meat with this poison. My Husband had taken his Sister up the mountain (on a Friends Farm) (also knew that bait was around) but got distracted, and didn`t realise...
