New rules for drivers! Fresh fines, slower speeds—starting any day now

Obviously doesn’t apply to Tasmania, or did you just forget about us? 😢

Whatsapp introduces surprise update that could change how you use it

I’ve not used any of these apps, & don’t intend to. I get by with text messages and phone calls, though I do regularly FaceTime my son & his partner in Perth.

What are you most thankful for today? 💕

I’m very thankful for my amazing husband today. I had to go for my annual blood tests ☹️, I hate them especially when they can’t find a vein, but the nurse was amazing, my husband drove me home & made breakfast for me because I’m not good without food when I first get up. I’m so grateful that I...

Popular newsreader leaves TV role after sudden network shake-up

Louise was one of Channel 7, Tasmania, newsreaders. Probably only known to us often neglected Tasmanians.

Popular newsreader leaves TV role after sudden network shake-up

We usually watch 7’s local news and did wonder why Louise was leaving, we assumed that maybe she was & her family were moving away. Louise was a very good news reader, who spoke very clearly. Hopefully she will find employment with one of the other media outlets in Hobart.

Could this Uber glitch leave you stranded? What every Aussie needs to know before their next ride

Perth drivers can be a bit aggressive can’t they? I remember chatting to a shop owner one day, she was formerly from Sydney, & she tells tourists not to worry about the snakes or spiders because Perth’s drivers are far more dangerous. We visit Perth every year as our son lives there, & always...

Is this freezer staple gone forever? Aussie food lovers scramble for alternatives

I’ve used frozen mashed potatoes in an emergency & rather liked them, but it’s not something that I’d miss if it was unavailable. I usually prepare my own, but every now and then, I simply can’t be fussed, hence the emergency. You can even buy freshly mashed ones as well, and mashed sweet potatoes.

Could this Uber glitch leave you stranded? What every Aussie needs to know before their next ride

We also use Ubers when holidaying in Perth. We’ve only been let down once, when the driver went to the wrong place, but we were refunded, so all was okay. There seems to be an abundance of taxis in Perth so if we’re at a shopping centre we’ll just taxi back to our son’s house. It’s much cheaper...

What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, but never quite got around to?

I would love to learn to play the piano, but I really don’t have time, and no longer have a piano. I can’t even find the time to start sewing again, but think I’m going to have to start baking again. My husband called into our local bakery this morning & was astonished at the increase in...

What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn, but never quite got around to?

One of my friends in WA took classes to learn how to make stained glass. She produced some beautiful work. It’s something that my husband would love to do.

What’s the #1 Problem Every American Faces in Australia? One Expat Reveals the Shocking Truth

We used to say the same two phrases to our son when he was little. He always loved them.

    childhood

Me too, Jest. It’s no much use being anything else is it? As my late mum in law used to say, every day that you wake up is a bonus.

    childhood

My family were well spaced out, two siblings were born before the war, then the next 3 of us came along. My closest in age sister is 4 yrs. older than me & my brother is 8 yrs. younger, so my sister & I generally had no one else to play with, which made for a rather lonely childhood. We also...

Sydney Men's Shocking Clothing Shopping Ordeal: The Surprising Reason They're on the Verge of Tears!

I wonder how on earth men manage when they reside in smaller cities & towns! My husband & brother manage to clothe themselves in Launceston and Hobart, & neither city has the amount of shops that Sydney does. I do buy a few things online for Ted, but we have a couple of favourite shops in...

Is this more ‘enshittification’? Shoppers furious over bag changes in massive supermarket chain

Must enquire at my local Woolworths, they’re so much better than the bigger ones.

Is this more ‘enshittification’? Shoppers furious over bag changes in massive supermarket chain

I love the smaller paper bags & wish Woolworths offered them as well. They are just the right size for emptying my kitchen compost bin each day, we’re not able to use compostable bags for our small bins because our council cant deal with them, typical! Why must people complain about absolutely...

She was 76 and died after routine surgery—‘Had this tool been available' she might still be alive

To everyone out there who are suffering with serious illnesses, or problems from botched surgeries, you all have my utmost sympathy. To Suzanne & mOiOz, how on earth do you both cope? I was aware that both of you had health problems, but the way that you are both so generous with your time, with...
