He thought he was too smart to fall for a scam—$17,000 later, here’s what he wants you to know

I was getting emails which looked legitimate - letterhead and had ABN on it. I ring them and find out whether or not they are actually theirs.

‘They’re already struggling’: New changes to aged care spark fear among families

It depends if she is what used to be known as "low" care or "high" care how much you have to pay. When my Mum was in one I did all her personal washing rather than pay to have it done, mainly because she had very sensitive skin and some washing detergents definitely aggravated her Dermatitis.

Not everybody has a computer or the physical ability to use one

Is your grandchild riding an e-bike? You might want to hear this $700 fine story

I think both E-bikes and Mobility Scooters should be fitted with speed governors the same as large trucks are. I know a lady who had a Mobility Scooter. A relative of hers use to check it and reduce the speed setting on it. Trouble was the lady discovered it and "turned it up" again.

New permit rule targets kerbside bin habits under council crackdown

If bins didn't fall over when the trucks have emptied them because they move off before the bins are on the footpath properly there might be less left out. Some people who can wheel them in themselves would not be able to pick them up to take them in.

Big banks spark outrage over changes that could quietly drain Aussie wallets

It seems some Banks are busier and have more staff "serving" than others.A few months ago I went to a Westpac/Bank SA Branch in Adelaide. There was 4 staff working and there was still a long queue

Are you unknowingly losing money? Audit reveals billions wasted by Aussies on inefficient appliances

I loved my old washing machine. I could set the water level to exactly what I reckoned I needed. It was a top loader and I could fill it with rainwater when we had enough in our tanks. You can't fill a front loader that way, neither can you open it and add one or two small items

Country roads aren’t what they were—and it’s the roos causing it

PLEASE can you check the article sent either last week or this week that mentioned slowing down for flashing amber lights?? I thought the previous article stated 25 kph It can be difficult when a kangaroo suddenly hops through between 2 cars. I also know of a case where a kangaroo hopped along...

Hopetoun on WA's south coast will stop free camping, citing rubbish complaints

Unfortunately this is definitely a problem. We have found "toilet" and other rubbish literally on the edge on the edge of country roads. In SA there is one free Caravan Pk/Camping Ground. Unpowered sites are free. There is a small charge for those with power. I think it is $15.00 a night. For a...

Can your payments disappear when you need them the most? One woman's experience may have the answer

I was referring to people who aren't able to speak to ask somebody to do it. Unless you have been to the same hospital previously and it is marked on your file, staff wouldn't think about it. Parts of some hospitals are so under-staffed they can't even keep up with patient needs. When nurses...

We’re all trying to stay warm—but this cost one mum $1,200!

Some types of heaters use a lot more electricity than others. Maybe do some research on that.

Think twice before judging! See how a Lamborghini driver shut down critics after being shamed for parking in a disabled spot

Some with Autism also have epilepsy which is not noticable with some types of it or all the time......I know somebody who has had more than one lot of major knee surgery. Sometimes he walks with no limp at all, other times he has a bad limp. It's the same for people with back injuries.

Australia’s charity sector is growing – but many smaller charities are doing it tough

A lot of charities are doing that now. Some organizations/charities they advertise lotteries/raffles and they give you bank details. Admittedly they don't do door-to-door or in shopping centres like they used to. I think that is partly for security purposes because of robberies, assaults etc.

Is this freezer staple gone forever? Aussie food lovers scramble for alternatives

IGA Supermarkets are owned by different people. Apart from advertised specials they have a choice what products they stock. For camping etc. some people used to use Deb mashed potato mix. It was potato in powder form. I don't know if you can still buy it or not.

'Am I in the wrong for not cooking 'fancier' meals—even if my partner keeps asking?'

Maybe you should give him a basic shopping list a few times and tell him to buy what he wants to eat. Get him to do it on his own. Maybe then he'll realise how much food costs, especially meat. Beef and lamb are very expensive

Can your payments disappear when you need them the most? One woman's experience may have the answer

Nobody notifies Centrelink that they are in hospital neither do their families so they don't know why a person hasn't supplied paperwork or attended the relevant office. When a reason is proved Centrelink should back-pay the people. (people have been known to deliberately not attend appts. or...

Manual car shortage drives up roadwork costs across Australia

Hard to Handle: How Everyday Products Are Failing Older Australians

Blister Packs - some are easier to open the back instead of the front. You poke your finger through the paper(?) on the back instead of trying to force them out by pushing on the plastic on the front. You have to remember that Breakfast is on the right side on the pack - not the left. That may...

Petrol prices could hit $2.20 a litre if Iran-Israel conflict sends oil above $US100 a barrel

The price of the cheapest fuel has been that high before and as far as I know there was no dispute at that time. If it lasts too long the price of everything will go up to cover transport costs.
