Strange find at Coles Checkout leaves shopper fuming: ‘You realise six and seven-year-olds can read, yeah?’

Instead of clutching her pearls, taking to the vapours and posting to social media, if she just loosened those stays and answered any question her kids came out with honesty and matter-of-factly, the kids would move on and forget about it in 20 seconds. Have we not got past the embarrassment of...

Can parents give their children too much attention?

A study reported on today from SA said that children need more 'green time' and less 'screen time'. The parents agreed but only IF the natural environment (the green) was not dirty or messy! Go figure. No wonder kids have mental problems.

What about the parents doing the communication? Not everything is the responsibility of the schools!

Landlords refuse to raise the rent on their tenants: ‘I feel sick to do that to them’

It's nice that this couple did this for their tenants. BUT most landlords may not be able to carry that extra $1500 cost themselves especially if they have mortgages on their own home as well. By far the greater number of investment properties are held by Mum & Dad investors and they are likely...

Outrage ignites as real estate agent rates tenants' cleaning efforts - is this fair?

Before I bought my own unit in 2012 I spent 17 years renting the same unit. The old lady owner went into a nursing home and her family rented it out. They did nothing except replace the bedroom carpet the old lady had soiled once too often. They didn't even pain it. Yes, I was a great tenant...

This passenger's common name prevented him from boarding his flight

But passport number is not a constant. It changes every 5 - 10 years! So is unreliable as an identifier.

A professional cleaner confesses the most 'irritating' habits of her clients

You may not be offering enough for the job. Go to a site such as Airtasker and have a look at jobs on offer there that are similar e.g. cleaner wanted 2 bed 2 bath unit, or 4 bed 2 baths 2 storey house. That will give you an idea of costs. The other thing is to look at some domestic cleaning...

This passenger's common name prevented him from boarding his flight

If that is the whole story, because my British Passport only has my full name and DoB along with place of birth. This article says they both came from the same place too, so there must have been some other piece of information used for identification that they are not telling us. Otherwise, it...

The BCG vaccine could be a game-changer in Alzheimer's and dementia protection

Is it the BGC vaccine or the bladder cancer that may prevent Alzheimer's disease and other dementia-related illnesses? People of my age group received the BCG at school round about the age of 12, so will that make us immune?

This Aussie cafe is under fire for a ‘scam’ at their counter

How do you know that money in the ice-cream container is not split between staff as tips? Of course tips should be declared to the tax man but seldom are!

This Aussie cafe is under fire for a ‘scam’ at their counter

Personally, I refuse to use a card to make small purchases like coffee or a newspaper. I would simply leave the coffee on the counter and leave, taking my custom elsewhere! After all, one visit a day would be $25 a week which adds up if lots of customers did the same thing!

This Aussie cafe is under fire for a ‘scam’ at their counter

Actually, they can, there is no law preventing them refusing to take cash. There ARE laws that say they must provide a fee-free payment method but that does not have to be cash. More's the pity. Have a look at your next telephone, electricity or other services bill. They charge fees for making...

A professional cleaner confesses the most 'irritating' habits of her clients

I would not dream of behaving like this to my cleaner. In fact, I am rarely even present when they come. I can always arrange extra tasks in advance such as window cleaning with a suitable increase in the cost. They know what they need to do and don't need me watching their every move. If...

If the ATM outside the bank is not working (or so the sign says) why don't they just go into the bank and withdraw money INSIDE instead?
