New Aged Care Shake-Up Keeps Seniors at Home – Lifeline or Letdown?

Could be a carbon fibre walker as they are so light compared to the heavier $200 steel walkers.

New Aged Care Shake-Up Keeps Seniors at Home – Lifeline or Letdown?

That's shocking. Can they get meals on wheels delivered? Some elderly people I know buy frozen meals from the supermarket and add microwaved frozen vegies. My next door neighbour got a landscaper who charged $50/hr. Landscapers can come and do gardening and weeding. $200/hr seems a scam.

Security guard chokes pensioner in hospital amid shocking safety claim

I saw the video on the news also. I thought the man was being rather pompous and angry before the security incident. Not sure what special treatment he wanted before the incident, but being angry doesn't cut it in hospital situations. He had a nose cannula with medication being administered...

He’s 52, on a scooter, and just nailed a wheelie—watch it to believe it!

Well, instead she could have got a male dog to lift their leg on that sign. Would have saved the effort.

Doesn't look like he really needs that motor scooter, but hey it's something different for a bit of fun.

Hard to Handle: How Everyday Products Are Failing Older Australians

Have you noticed how those produce bags have got so thin, they break/split? I rarely use them. Only if I forget my reusable produce bags.

I prefer Dyson for the same reason. They always have specials, and I've never paid full price. Free delivery on their website.

Aussie mum cashes in with $1,000-a-month side hustle at Woolworths, Bunnings, and Costco

I used to do mystery shopping with a couple of marketing companies for many years. Some of the jobs I disliked because the staff person really thought I was going to buy it eg. a car. I used to feel sorry for the sales people. I guess that's not the right attitude, but hey it was for me...

Hard to Handle: How Everyday Products Are Failing Older Australians

I like gadgets that are easy to use. This one gets lots of use, as it's adjustable for any jars, bottle tops, milk tops etc. You buy it anywhere really. I bought it at Kitchen warehouse for $20. It's stainless steel and Appetito brand.

Queensland government announces more than half a billion dollars for homeless services

Lots of tent cities. A number of them are NZ homeless people who can't get centrelink. Many are offered a free ticket back home, and some reject it. It's a sad state of affairs, but hope they find a solution for them, or they can find work for themselves.

Doctors said this pill was harmless in the ’70s—now three generations are living with the consequences

Dreadful state of affairs. It's akin to women viewing the HRT as the new elizir of youth, without thinking of the side effects. Women say they have updated patches etc, but the end result is still the same. As an example, my mother took HRT when she was in her 50's for severe menopausal...

Shoppers compare $14 Kmart find to $200 designer version and rave over it

I bought a couple of flannelette PJ pants from Target. Didn't need the top. They are a good quality and comfy.

Billy Joel lost everything, ended up in a coma...but found the one thing that saved him

It does take courage to come out and be openhearted, and there's absolutely nothing wrong when people do. Billy Joel ended up marrying that lady who he had an affair with. As with all his marriages, it didn't last unfortunately. That condition he has now sounds dreadful. We all hope he can...

Shocking Trend Reversal: How Older Australians Are Outliving Youth - Find Out What's Jeopardizing Your Lifespan!

I totally agree, but despite that, the advantage is we can turn it off. Some people can't seem to do this, which is unfortunate.

Shocking Trend Reversal: How Older Australians Are Outliving Youth - Find Out What's Jeopardizing Your Lifespan!

I reckon the internet is wonderful for acquiring nice recipes to cook at home, in lieu of cook books these days. I often borrow cook books from my local library as well. I agree that people can be typing anonymously online with being nasty and abusive without repercussion. In saying that...

Shocking Trend Reversal: How Older Australians Are Outliving Youth - Find Out What's Jeopardizing Your Lifespan!

I think it's to do with ultra processed food contained with additives and names we don't recognize these days. When I was growing up, my mother had to cook everything, and the only takeaway was fish and chips. Chinese takeway only came later.
