‘We have the powers to prosecute’: Major ruling in explosive environmental case

Directors of a building company that builds houses that collapse two months after they're built should not be allowed to go into 'voluntary liquidation'. Their assets should be seized by the courts and they should be imprisoned and 'banned for life' from running any business.

Postal nightmare: Australia Post worker stole $400,000 in packages from customers

Clearly the ACT judiciary don't share the AFP's zero tolerance of crime policy. It probably took longer for the AFP to go through the excruciatingly slow processes of prosecuting him than he will spend in prison

    Joke Dad Joke 📱

Never having used one, I have no idea. But I have met people who claimed to enjoy using them. Possibly they were lying, possibly they had extremely poor nerve sensitivity in that part of their body rebelling possibly they were insane. But, just maybe there are such things as comfortable butt...

How often do Aussies really shower at camp? The debate you didn't know you were missing

My story was also from the Kapooka barracks. Efforts were made by a corporal, a sargent and the lieutenant, to persuade him, both for the good of the platoon and his own health. But he refused to use anything they gave him and they were forbidden to physically interfere. They couldn't even...

Major restaurant chain announces operational shift affecting multiple regions

They can shut down all their stores as far as I'm concerned. I gave up on Domino's a long time ago, after getting rubbish pizzas from a two different stores, both had the wrong topping, too little topping and were smaller than what I paid for. Though one was purchased in Queensland and the...

‘We’ve paid nearly $1,500 more’: Mum’s rates bill nightmare sparks urgent warning

All the powers of councils actually rest in the State Governments. They can write legislation that restricts the actions of councils, like imposing restrictions on rate rises or introducing timelines on rate category complaints. If you want the actions of councils to change, make sure that you...

Experts warn of hidden risks in withdrawing money: 'Hard to get around it'

This is a fundamental denial of natural justice. Financial institutions are supposed to apply due diligence when assessing loan applications. If they make false assumptions and apply penalties based upon them the victims should appeal to the AFCA.

Two friends got in a fight over a cat—who do you think is being unreasonable?

Definitely dumping, which is illegal. Leaving it outside a shop could have ended tragically, and she could have been charged with animal cruelty. If she wasn't able, or willing, to find a new owner then she should have taken the cat to the RSPCA. That's what they are there for.
