New year, new support: Carer allowance and other Centrelink payments to increase for over 1 million Aussies

The paltry increase for carers is coming out of Home Care Packages, I just got a notice about it: 0.47 per day = $3.29 per week. In September the age pension rise was claimed to be $26 per fortnight, but we in Dept Housing have had the rent increased by $36 per fortnight, so are $10 worse off...

You missed Nona B, that's who started the takeovers, and the decline.

Popular Aussie retailer to close 160 stores—are you ready to say goodbye?

After Mosaic takeover the clothes became more and more dreadful, poor fabric, poor cutting and hopelessly put together. Trying to return and get a refund was impossible, they swore blind the item you bought was perfectly made, even when the only button was at navel level in a winter coat, so...

Public safety in question as Telstra faces $3 million fine for emergency call outage

Did any of those affected by the failure of the triple O connections get a share of the $3 Million? Where does the money from these fines go, if not to those who suffered harm from whatever failures caused the problems?

New power bill credits to roll out as government tackles rising living costs

Everywhere has sales now because so few are able to buy at normal/inflated prices. Right now I am only buying what I need when I can get it in a sale, some are selling at 50, 60 and 70% off. Online news sites are asking their subscribers to increase their subscription by doubling it, charities...

Now this is getting into scary territory. BEWARE!!!!!

Sorry about your husband's childhood problem. But there are dictionaries or, God save us, spellcheck and other helpful guides for anyone who has problems with spelling when writing. One of my past volunteer jobs was with an illiteracy help group; the joy of people who found they could "finally...

Now this is getting into scary territory. BEWARE!!!!!

I don't think that is the case, many here may see it as helping them learn pronunciations, or spellings, to avoid continuing to make these mistakes; especially if it once was your job to do just that.

Now this is getting into scary territory. BEWARE!!!!!

It's not only young people, some seniors are as bad. One person recently pronounced her as ah - 'I can't see ah.' I only worked out the word was ''her'' because of the rest of her conversation.

Sorry but it is waylaid, which means interrupt, stop, detain etc. I think confused might suit better, I know other languages confuse me when trying to learn them.

Score designer jewellery for $20 with Target’s ‘perfect dupe’: ‘They're so cute’

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when two women arrive at a party both wearing these, one paid a ridiculous amount and the other bought the Target set, would the Target buyer admit to it? I doubt it 🤣 Why fork out that much on trinkets when you could wear the copy for $thousands less?

See how new bank fees could drain your account with every withdrawal!

No, I haven't been affected by the new cash withdrawal fee from a teller inside the bank. Can't remember the last time I used cash when shopping but would have used the ATM because one shop is cash only - probably not disclosing all transactions 🤭. Each day I transfer what I will need from my...

Aussies face urgent health alert amidst sharp rise in cases of this disease ahead of Christmas

It's still a disease to avoid getting because the effect on one's respiratory system can be deadly, so folk would not be dying if they hadn't caught Covid.

Multi-million dollar phishing scam linked to massive text fraud

Yes, and if he thought he was in advertising he would expect to be paid, so it's rubbish to say he gained no payments - how did he pay rent, eat, buy clothes etc. if he wasn't paid?

New aged care reforms to bring changes to seniors relying on assisted services

Families are now spread far and wide, some jobs do not finish when the worker goes home. I know that for a fact, as I have only one daughter in the same state as me, she worked long hours and was on call even on holidays she'd get calls. She's been promoted and no longer has to work weekends but...
