'This is a pain so unbearable': Former Seven network bares feelings after her heartbreaking experience

Yes, having been a AN in Age Care, I always thought that a Family having to deal with a loved one with Dementia, it is death twice. Loss of them as a Person, then the final death. My Heart goes out to Families who have to deal with it.

Blackout and thick fog throw airport flights into chaos

With mobile phones, one can then message and explain the delay. It happens often, and unfortunately if one is late with a domestic flight, and expecting to be there for an international flight, its a problem. When doing both, I book into accommodation in Brisbane for the night, so...

Plastic piles up on farms and puts Aussie food at risk

Why not more bags the are reusable. Not sure what they are made of, but one I got is made from Hemp. Hemp can replace a lot of things in this world. Easy to grow, sustainable, and will compost, if thrown in the bin by mistake.

Too many people with back pain call ambulances or visit the ED. Here’s why that’s a problem

Unfortunately, too many people, with their not so delightful children, head to Emergency Dept. because they don`t want to pay to go to a Dr`s. Many years ago, m Husband, Type 1 Diabetic, Vascular and Heart problems, gashed his shin bone on a block wall. I had managed to get most of...

The government wants to contain NDIS growth. But ineligible people with disability also need support

So true. The Disabilities Workshops that were around, gave these People a sense of worth. In Kingaroy, (don`t know if it is still going) but a workshop was for them. I may be wrong, but if remembering correctly, they made biscuits for sale. All supervised. And, yes this NDIS...

Is it unreasonable to refuse to run errands for an elderly neighbour?

She is taking advantage of you. A Friend of mine had the same problems. The Lady across the road, has home help, and my Friend told the neighbor to get intouch with the Provider to get the shopping done as well. Or get her Son, who lives in Sydney to get it organised. While I was...

New Minister for Ageing: What It Means for Older Australians’ Health, Care and Finances

That is the problem. So many Age Care Providers `popped up` a few years ago. Easy money, ripping off Seniors. Also, I see `workers` with their Clients, and the workers are useless, not well dressed, looks like have dragged their uniform out of the bin. Also aren`t trained at all...

Major Aussie bank cuts 1,500 jobs, pushes cashless future

Totally agree. If everyone went in and threatened to close their account, then Westpac, will have to think again.

‘There could be $1.50 a kilo difference’: This Aussie staple is cheaper for Kiwis than their own

Same, I buy homebrand from WW, and it`s NZ butter. Even mainland soft butter is NZ. Which has only a bit of water or maybe milk whipped up in it. We used to make it in Coffee lounges I worked in. Many years ago in NZ.

‘I’ll do anything for my children’: What one Aussie mother says she has to do just to feed her kids

It has been going for a long time. I don`t vote for either major party, but you must be a LNP supporter. They don`t do anything either.

'I don't have a place to stay': Couple faces dilemma and threats over their home

Yet Councils do nothing when a neighbor and 3 houses up the road from my Granddaughter and Grandsoninlaw, complained to Council, the house behind them has grass nearly as high as fence, the house next door has rubbish, dogs, in the yard, and a broken down caravan parked on the street. The...

Drivers of SUVs and pick-ups should pay more to be on our roads. Here’s how to make the system fairer

The general 4WD are okay but these American yank tanks are over the top. Take up 1 1/2 spaces in shopping centres, think they own the road, tail gate. I have not long ago driven from Mackay to Brisbane, and the amount of times I have slowed down in passing lanes, just so I could get...

    Did you know

Dates are great when on a road trip, also when I was working in the Community (Age Care), dates were a quick snack between clients. And sometimes, going over the Rostered time, and having a later lunch, kept me going.

Is this phone etiquette disappearing over the years? Here's what Aussies think!

Also it is something one was taught many years ago when answering a phone, or making a call. Also I write down the Persons` name who answers, so I can then respond when the call is finished, and thank the person.

‘Actually illegal’: What happened after this couple’s $12,000 holiday was downgraded

Yes, just trying to get some refunds, re Booking.com I will be out of pocket, and will have to wear it. No more. Use their site to see what is available, then go directly to the accommodations web site. They are sometimes cheaper than these booking companies, if dealing directly as...

How sneaky costs chip away at older Australians’ budgets

I have already told my Family if there is any money left when I go, good luck. While I can still drive distance, I do, and explore. I help out by house and dog sitting when My Daughter and oldest Granddaughter and Family are away. Will buy some meat, I`m Vegetarian) veges etc...

A law change will expand who we remember on Anzac Day – the New Zealand Wars should be included too

Exactly. What does it matter the colour of skin. Pakeha, Maori, Aboriginals, all fought together. I really get angry about all this segregation, as when I grew up, in NZ, our Maori Neighbors, and at school, were all our mates. My Parents were the same.
