    Corner Shop

I can't remember the name of the owners but so many things I do remember like home made iceblocks for a penny, a bag of broken biscuits for threepence, the smiles of the staff and occasional hugs and Mum always treated like a queen. The shop was on Lane Cove Road at Ryde but, of course is long gone.

    Men's outfits in the '60s and '70s

I loved seeing men look so neat and tidy. When my beloved late doctor was alive he always wore white at work.... shirt, shorts, sox and shoes. He always looked so professional and special.

Ageing in a Healthcare Maze: Are Older Australians Being Let Down?

people who can see doctors should be thankful and stop bitching. Try my shoes for size. My doctor of 25 years retired and died. Since then (well over 4 years) I've had NO doctor. I'm sick of being told I'm in the 'TOO HARD BASKET'. One doctor lasted 5 minutes before saying those words and...

What’s the weirdest or most random thing you’ve held onto over the years?

my baby book given to me on the day I was born (18.03,42), a piece of brass broken off a bike battery when I was 18 months old which actually went right through me (in one end and out the other), a lock of my baby hair tied with blue cotton and many photos dating back to the very early 1800's...

New rules may impact home options in this state. Is this the solution to the housing crisis?

this doesn't surprise me at all. It seems that some women think they have all rights and there's no-one to stand up to them. So often, like me, it's the grandparents and grandkids who pay for the brainless behaviour of many parents. It makes me wonder why so many women try to be men in life...

TV Time Machine: The Aussie Shows That Shaped a Generation

I agree with you. I only meant that I liked the MMC and knew it was from US but still good for the kids. One of the best kid's shows of it's time. Pity kids of today can't watch it instead of the rubbish of today

    Dazzling Dahlia

I do wish I could still grow these beautiful flowers. Nothing grows where I live now, I've been told it's a "SUN TRAP" where everything dies but I used to get my dahlia and tulip bulbs from a nursery in Dandenong in Victoria and always had a wonderful show of colour. These were my favorite...

New rules may impact home options in this state. Is this the solution to the housing crisis?

sounds like my family. I spent over $30,000 on renovations to the home I'd rented from them for 16 years which was full of black mould, mildew and asbestos. I had it totally stripped and repainted, replaced floor coverings and lights then son/DIL wanted more rent than was legally allowable at...
