'Sexist' school timetable under scrutiny: MP suggests extending hours until 6 pm

You have said what I was going to say. I know of one school in an industrial area which found a lot of children of all ages being dropped off so Mum and Dad could clock on by 7.30am often with no breakfast, cold and nothing to do. The School Council established a free breakfast program. A case...

To keep people out of aged care homes the government is throughing money at MyAgedCare. But the problem here is the providers ae taking a large amount of it and the people who need it are not seeing enough of it.

Outrage in the aisles! Woolworths now offers a controversial service, and not everyone is happy

Why is it so wrong for Woolworths to do this? They already do insurance which has nothing to do with food retail. I have used the Dr online service. I tried to get an appointment with the local clinic, who have no permanent GP. Just locums. They rarely touch me, check my temp or blood pressure...

Pension up $2.68 a day. What can that even pay for?

The comment about eating every 2 to 3 days may be truer than not. Just this morning I was discussing the state of the aged in my very small town. Many of them are getting thinner every day. Why?

Hate cleaning dishes? Check out this Aussie mum's ‘no-dish’ dinner solution

Do you remember when Jamie Oliver took school meals to USA, where a lot of food is takeaway, the first thing they had to do was teach the kids to use cutlery. This is what is happening here only not takeaway, but from the centre of the table.

Centrelink recipient shares $100 fortnightly grocery haul: 'People who believe Jobseekers are out here living the life are wrong'

Rob44, I cannot agree more with your comments If this country were a decent community we would have accepted the need to have worked together to form a decent public health service, provide decent government housing, pay university students' tuition fees, pay a fair unemployment benefit...

Need a bulk-billing GP? Why throwing more money at Medicare isn’t the answer

I totally agree with these comments and have been saying these things for a while. I am not a health professional, just a person who has lived quite a while. These are my opinions. I am of the opinion that very many of our health problems are food related. (except for things like broken legs...

Don't make this common fridge-cleaning mistake: Woman's warning goes viral

My partner decided to 'decorate' the metal tabletop!! Just like a 5yo let loose with a texta. To give him the benefit he does have absence seizures. And he did try to clean it before I saw it. But he did do it.

Interesting article. And I think that it will ignite an argument - again. I maintain 8 weeks is too long.

Kitchen Tips: Here are the food items you need (and don’t need) to put in the fridge!

I have taken to vacuum packing coffee. I have used sealing in food saver bag and sealing in a jar. I have yet to decide which way is best, but I believe that it is better than not sealing.

myGov is getting a massive upgrade – find out which services are changing

MyGov has left a lot to be desired. Iam/was on the Board of an ACNC NFP company. By chance in early November, I learnt that all directors need a Director ID by 30 November. To complete my application I needed a Birth Certificate. I admit I messed up that but I am still waiting for help 2 1/2...

Why are grandparents now called 'grandfriends' at school events? Here's the controversial reason behind the new name

What a load of rubbish! There is someone sitting with too little to do, too much influence and being paid too much to think up nonsense. Please, just concentrate on teaching these young people the best that can be done.

Could this 23-year-old be Australia's worst driver ever?

With this record I doubt that anything except paraplegia will stop him from driving. He needs some mind altering treatment.

One in eight Australians live below the poverty line, a recent report finds

I look around my small rural town and see so many elderly people who are very thin. I have wondered about it and my conclusion is that one area to economize is reduce their food. It is very sad.

    Yesterday's 3-year-old......

This is my Mum's story. A friend of hers wondered why her boys were very quiet. One had painted the face of the other with black nugget. He was trying to clean it off and the more he cleaned the shinier it got. Everyone got a laugh, but the story does not include how he was cleaned.

Could living in the outback shorten your lifespan? New statistics say yes

Health care is really a joke in Australia. I live in NW Victoria, the closest clinic has only FIFO GP's. No regular person to notice small changes. A simple Xray is 160km away. These days even the Vets have portable machines, so why is it so hard for a Clinic to provide this service? No...
